I've had this scope for a couple of months now and have used it for several hours in the field. It takes a little getting used to in order to get the most out of it. Once you learn it and practice adjusting for various lighting conditions such as daylight VS night it is amazing. The built in IR illuminator is fine out to around a hundred yards. I added a T20 illuminator from ebay for 50 bucks and OMG. I can see clearly for over 300 yards. Battery life with the built in illuminator is about what is stated in the specs but if you turn on the built in IR it depletes them very quickly. I also added one of the pulsar external battery packs and have yet to drain the battery even after 2 to 3 hours of steady use. I can't really say how long it will last as I haven't been able to run it down while hunting and I plug it back up when I come in. As far as resolution and visibility it is definitely at least Gen 2+ if not Gen 3. I think some of the bad reviews I've seen here can be mostly attributed to inexperience with the scope.
