Defective out of the box and terrible customer service from Leica

Since I was a young kid I've always wanted a Leica product but could never afford one. I finally at age 50+ was able to purchase this binocular. You would think an optic of this cost and longstanding reputation would back their products better. The rangefinder on this binocular worked a few times and then completely went dead. While that alone is alarming for a premium brand, their customer service is very poor. I spent an hour working on it and finally spoke to a representative. They were very short with me and absolutely refused to cover the shipping cost to have this repaired. It was defective brand new out of the box! Not only am I significantly inconvenienced by their poor quality control, I'm also going to miss deer season with it this year. I'm sending it back for a refund and will never try Leica again.
