I replaced this over the Gen 1 because I have the CCR Buttstock from Hera Arms that has the same inner bevel. Also the Gen 1 was slightly taller. This Gen 2 is about .75 inches shorter top to bottom.

I Purchased both this in FDE and OD Green. These "CA-Version" are the EXACT SAME as the regular with a dumb ### plastic insert that CAN EASILY BE REMOVED. (just so you don't go unscrewing ALL the screws, Only the side with the screw at the back are holding the grip together. the 3 on the right hand side are for show) Just remember to grab a 800 or 1500 grit piece of sand paper and go over all the rough edges to make sure the plastic is smooth when reassembled.

I love this grip and have one on both my CMR30 and an AR Pistol build that is ongoing. The grip is VERY sturdy and I imagine it will take a good amount of abuse if needed. I love the QD Attachments on both sides..
