NEW OPMOD Limited Edition GEN 3 Pinnacle PVS-14

Written on Jan 17, 2020

1 x OP Exclusive - OPMOD Limited Edition GEN 3 PVS-14 Pinnacle Night Vision Monocular,Green Phosphor,Charcoal, OPMODPVS14G
SKU: 99-NV-OPMOD-G3PVS14-OPMODPVS14G7
The first scope was returned 5 years old from manufacturer date, it was tuned wrong or had been damaged-it require full gain to produce a reasonable image for the ITT Pinnacle GEN 3 thin filmed Auto gate device.
The 2nd scope is definitely used. I took it to a local expert and this is his determination. The scope has hundreds of hours on it. The objective lens cap is very well worn so much so it slides easily onto the devise and will sit oblique to a 90 degree mating easily. When the se scopes an new, the tolerances are so tight it takes effort to get them on and take them off. The reason being is the scope will be damaged beyond usability if that cap comes off accidently in sunlight.
The objective lens focusing rings turns extremely easily. It is not tight and a little resistance to rotation, thi one spins with one finger anywhere on the ring.
The exterior anodized aluminum has been touched un with a sharpie black ink pen. The various rings and edges of both the hard plastic and aluminum have been well worn. It is eident on the edges of the device. These are worn contact points from general use, securing and unsecuring if a protective jacket was ever deployed, it has be2en knocked around visable by chipped platic rings and is not all that clean. The numerical graduation points on the rings have dirt in

Better than a $3,000 V8 Victory Zeiss?

Written on Dec 14, 2019

I really like my Zeiss Victory V8 1.8-14x50 but if I had to introduce a dollar valuation my choice would be the Trijicon AccuPower 2.5-10x56mm. The Trijicon just seems to have great DNA, it comes up to my line of sight, squeeze the trigger and it hits the target. The Zeiss has better glass and the 36mm tube lets the light in but the Trijicon just has a warmer feel to it.

This is my third favorite night vision product

Written on Nov 20, 2019

The reason the Vulcan is third is due to me beilng constrained by distance. Most of my shooting is done on my small parcel (2 acres) but if I lived on 40 acres then the Vulcan would be number #2. Number 1 is my Thermal sight Armasight Zeus 2 640 and nothing can hide from that! The Vulcan is heavily proteccted in the typical Armasight fasion. With a current inventory of 8 night vision sights (ATN, Pulsar. sightmark and OPMOD PVS7) I have found Armasight to build high quality and durable products made to working in harsh environments and the Vulcan is no exception. I liked the simplicity of the Vulcan,. the image quality is very good but the magnification of 3.5 is restrictive in my small shooting area.
