Same thing as ELS but larger and more sturdy.

Written on Feb 14, 2016

I originally had my SL holster mounted directly to the belt of my 3 gun rig but wanted to be able to easily remove the holster for stages that don't have pistol. Mount is large and securely holds my pistol in place during the match. The pattern for the QLS is larger than the ELS system but basically the same thing.

Great case for the range or travel

Written on Mar 14, 2015

I decided on this case so that I could have a rugged lockable case for the range or traveling with multiple firearms. With careful planning, and not getting too far ahead of myself, I was able to fit 3 rifles, 3 pistols and at least 3 mags for each. Experiment with differnt layouts and with rifle assembled and broken down to fit more in. The pluck and pull foam is great to get close to a custom fit insert. When you are certain about the lay out and have fit everything you want, I recommend using a hot glue gun to seal up the pre cut lines in the remaining foam or it will continue to separate. For an extra layer of protection and to keep the foam from falling apart, I used a few cans of plastidip (lowes/HD) to reinforce. Apply in light coats and wait for it to dry before applying another layer. Also, don't spray on too thick or it will slightly "shrink" the foam.

Learn from my mistakes:
1. When you take out all of the layers, stack them in the original order and orientation and mark them with chalk so you can put them back the way they came out. If not, the plucked layers may not line up perfectly. Not a big deal but a little annoyed that I didn't notice this before I started. Now one layer may stick out 1/8"
2. Really be creative about how you orrientate rifles, magazines, gear. To fit in more, I ended up leaving one magazine in each rifle because there was enough space below the lower that wasn't being used.
3. Use a box cutter to cut out 1/2 sections of foam anywh

Nice compact 532nm laser but not without a couple issues

Written on Jan 28, 2015

I was looking for a small Greenlight laser for an AR pistol and this one fit the bill. It is very small thus lightweight and takes up very little room of the rail. The two issues I have is that the mounting seems a little off and the beam is not very collimated for a 532. I was able to co-witness the GL with the Vortex razor so I think it is sitting square on the rail. I will know once it get it to the range. I measured the spot size at 30 feet and it was just over .5". Other GL lasers I have seen produce a much smaller spot size. Overall I satisfied so far with this purchase. The laser does have two functions, constant on and pulse mode which is toggled by holding down the on/off button. I wish it had a third option of momentary on.
