Great Grip Option for Rhino 40 DS thru 60DS

Written on Feb 14, 2020

I waited a long time for this grip because it was on backorder for months. It was worth the wait. It was easy to install and to be hones, this grip should be the one that comes on this revolver (60DS in my case) from factory. This grip completes this revolver as it is far better than the original in every way. The original worked fine but to me was never comfortable. This grip looks great on the revolver, is comfortable, and points better than the original ever could. If you have a 40DS thru 60DS, I highly recommend that you put one on your revolver as you will not be disappointed. I wish this came with instructions; I am a bit technical as I would like to torque the screw to a specific torque and I like loctite. I did email Chiappa, and they said hand tight with no Loctite. So if Chiappa is fine with hand tight with not Loctite, I am fine with it.

Good Pistol Red Dot

Written on Aug 26, 2016

Put this red dot on a Chiappa Rhino 6" 357 mag. At 25 yards was able to consistently hit sub 1 inch groups with ease. Decided to try my luck at 100 yards without adjustment to see what the Rhino red dot combo would do, it was on the mark which impressed me. Despite what I have read in other reviews, when you adjust the windage and elevation, you can feel (barely but it's there) and see the clicks, but you cannot hear them. The only short comings I have found with the venom is the supplied base. The base is very easy to strip the threats that hold the venom to the base. The instructions do not specify what torque is needed for proper fitment. I contacted via email Vortex about the issue, and without any hassle or questions, they shipped a new base out to me. I asked them about the recommended torque and was instructed: 13 in-lb without Loctite or 10 in-lb with Loctite for the screws that hold the Venom to the base, and 10 to 20 in-lb for the clamp screw. Even at 10 in-lbs with Loctite you might strip the threads. This is what recommend doing: 8 in-lbs with Loctite blue on the screws that hold the venom to the base and 15 in-lb on the clamp screw. Because I have three of these bases(the original base, the base sent by Vortex as a replacement, and I bought a second venom), I was able to verify these numbers.

I was impressed so much with my the venom on my rhino that I bought a venom for my 1911. This required me to buy a dovetail base. I got the burris fastfire bas
