I have a full assortment of tools at my home workshop and also for my go bag when I have range days. I am a bit of a tool snob. I like nice things. These are great tools. This pack is always in my go bag for the range and when I am home it is on my workbench mat. It is part of my "necessities" tools. I have added a few other hex drivers, wrench ends, screwdriver, and tools and makes a Great all around kit.
Very solid mount for the money. I have a few of these mounts on some LPVO setups, a Coyote gun, and also a DMR type setup. all on 556 or 762 AR Platform rifles. I like that most companies are switching over to TORX heads so I have fewer tools to carry in my range bag. This is a solid well-built mount, They get the job done at a great price.
solid red dot for the money. Hate the CR1632 battery. Everything I have runs CR2032 or 123's so this was a bad buy for me. Other then that is runs like all the other red dots. the see-through caps are great. The mount is solid.
2 negatives
1- CR1632 battery is not standard across other platforms like 123, 2032, AA or AAA. So another battery stinks.
2- having a solid stop on the off and brightness dial sucks. If you were out shooting in daylight and rotated it to off in the brightest setting then go out at night and turn it on you will have red glow from your optic before you turn it all the way down. So make sure if you are out at night you cover your optic while turning it on and rotate the dial quickly to level 3ish and you will be fine.
This feels like the old Carry handle height. Will take some getting use to but should work great when you wear coms or ear pro. I don't think I will spend the money on all my rifles for this height. I'll probably find rail risers and do it that way for my lesser guns. Also, the cool thing about this it uses all the Aimpoint mount setup so Holosun, Bushnell, Sig will all work with this. Basically, anything with an AimPoint Pro footprint will work.
Remember the price point and this is a great folding option. There are planting flashing/molding edges that need to be cleaned up and the 5/16-18 SHCS bolt for Mossbergs is a bit short.
For the sharp edges and flashing, I cleaned everything up with a razor knife, sandpaper, and then went over it with some fine red scotch bright. I had all this at the house so it took less than 15 minutes.
As for the bolt, I had this in a longer version and trimmed it with a grinder and it was perfect. Don't go too long as this is a thru hole and goes directly into the trigger and firing system. thread something in too long and you will damage the firing system.
