Game changer if you wear glasses

Written on Jul 25, 2022

I have a Kowa 664 scope that came with a 30x wa eyepiece. This eyepiece has 20mm of eye relief. NOT enough. I almost gave up on this scope until I tried the 25x LER which has 32mm of eye relief. WOW! Finally an eyepiece that I can comfortably see the entire FOV with glasses. This is the only eyepiece I have found that I can see the entire FOV. This includes the pentax PF series and Vortex Razor hd. None of their eyepieces can do this. The optics on this are sharp and bright. Same goes for the 30x. Leave to KOWA to solve this problem.

Great optics for the money

Written on Jul 11, 2022

I have had these for a few years and use them for birding. The view is very easy on the eyes. Other similarly price optics do not seem to collimate into one image as well. Sharpness is about 80% of the field of view. They feel so solid. Compared to my Swarovski el's and Nikon Premiers they are not quite as bright or sharp especially toward the edges. Contrast is not as good especially with a backlight subject. Compared to Vortex, Zeiss and other sub $1000 binoculars they as as good or better. Highly recommended!

Great field of view but sharpness at edges is lacking

Written on Jul 04, 2022

Very wide field of view makes spotting birds etc very easy. The sweet spot appears to be about 60% of the FOV. When scanning with this binocular I find the blurry edges visually disturbing. Others may not notice this. I get a more comfortable view and ease with my Bushnell 8x42 engage and especially my Bushnell Forge 8x42's. I also compared it to the KOWA 6.5 x 32'a and found the Kowa slightly better. The Kowa has a wider field of view and closer focus. I would give the Kowa a 4 star rating. The Sightmark has good clarity and resolution in it's sweet spot. For the same price look at the Busnell Engage 8x42's or the Kowa 6.5 x 32's

Bright and true 1x

Written on May 19, 2017

I looked at a lot of scopes. For the money this was the brightest and sharpest scope. Beats Leupold etc. Also true 1x so I can keep both eyes open. Wider view than all the this $$ range. Easy to sight in I used Nikon 223 mount. I wish the cross hairs were more defined. Shooting in brush or any confusing backgound makes it hard to see where the hairs cross. Still truly excellent for any price.

Bright optics good for low light but a little heavy

Written on Sep 12, 2015

Great light transmission for the price. I was watching an owl at dusk in a wooded area and there were perfect. My 10x42'a were too dark for this situation. Optically they don't compare to the best but great for the $$$$

Battery cap will not stay on. Otherwise great red dot

Written on Sep 12, 2015

This was a nice red dot. Easy to zero. Good intensity settings. The plastic insert of the battery cap busted so that the battery cap will not tighten and therefore the battery falls out. I looked the vortex red dot at a gun show and this one seems better built.
