Great glass and eye relief

Written on Apr 15, 2020

I like the optic and I think it is worth its price point... maybe more. It appears to be well built. The glass is great and so is the field of view. Yes the reticle does look small but like others said it is likely due to large field of view. The eye relief is excellent too. The fine reticle should allow for precise shooting. I would have given this optic five stars if the reticle was at least partially illuminated by fiber optics like the Trijicon ACOG. Also I was disappointed that it did require a fair amount of metal filing to get it to fit in an American Defense ACOG mount.

Amazing Light

Written on Nov 29, 2017

I bought it just for the IR illuminator. I really did not want the combination of flashlight and IR because usually something designed to do multiple things, doesn't do each as well as a dedicated single function tool. Well that is not the case here. I was blown away by the performance of the IR and also the intensity and overall spill of the flashlight. the design ... the way they accomplish this is very unique and I am impressed. I thought that the 1000 lumen claim was exaggerated, but it definitively out shined the 900 Lumes lights I own. I will likely buy more Fenix lights!

ATN X-Sight II

Written on Nov 29, 2017

This is my second night vision scope. The first was an Armasight Vampire Core 3X which provides a very clear image and has served me well. This ATN X-Sight is mounted on top of a Remington 700. With adequate IR illumination the image is just as clear or maybe better than the Vampire Core 3X (but you do have to use the focusing knob on top of the scope for different distances just like the Vampire 3X) I'm using the external battery pack in a Triad Tactical stock pack. The combination works for me. I just started evaluation the setup and have not been able to test all of the features, but I think I am going to like it. The instructions that came with the scope were very brief and need to be supplemented by downloading the manual online (which you need to do for the firmware update anyway). I am using an after market Fenix TK25 IR illuminator as I purchased it not realizing that the X-sight comes with an external IR illuminator. The images and description do not make this clear. The illuminator that comes with it is fine, but I like the Fenix one better anyway. Now the bad... the reasons I couldn't give five stars... the optic needs to be mounted far back on the rifle so that your eye can contact the rubber eyepiece; however the mount is directly beneath the scope without any offset to the rear like most scopes that need to be set far back on the rifle. This seems to be an oversight in the design as other have the same complaint and I had to buy an offset picatinny ra

Seem very rugged

Written on Jun 12, 2017

In the past I have used Butler Creek lens caps, but wanted to give these a try. They seem to me much more rugged than the BC and I will likely buy these in the future. Have not had any cons... Give them a try!
