best scope under $1000

I now have 4 of these. Two on 308 bolt guns, and two on 22LR bolt guns. For under $1000 with coupon, this is the best glass I have used. I have also owned Nightforce & US Optics, good brands that cost twice as much as this Vortex. I also like that these scopes are NOT MADE in China. The only thing I would imorove would be to put the turrets on spline shaft instead of relying on pinch screws to hold the turret caps on.

Good scope. If you want locking elevation turret forr hunting etc, this scope is a good option. It has push button illumination to save weight. Turrets feel good. Glass is very clear. Reticle is a nice tree that is not too cluttered. I would not recommend this for long range competitions, for that get the PST Gen 2, or step up to a Razor.

This is my 5th Vortex, including 3 5-25 PST Gen2. This scope almost weighs as much as the 5-25, but has a slightly smaller objective, and I think this is ideal for AR style rifle or a bolt gun used for close to mid range. Vortex excellent warranty. Made in Phillipines (not China) and at the sale price its a no brainer.

This is a good 'budget' optic. You arent going to ID animals hundreds of yards away, they will just be hot blobs out in the field. The menu icons are tiny so you will need to read the manual to see which buttons do what. These are meant for AR15 platform. I would say good out to 100 yds, 150-200 would be pushing it. If you have the money, get the 384 or 640. I returned mine after one night to get the 384 instead. Im also looking at the Adder for a dedicated bolt gun.

Really good glass for the price. The reticle is nice, good illumination, good turrets. The vortex warranty is the best in the business. I've sold some other scopes and replaced with there.
