I've been shooting rimfire competitions for a long time.
I was looking for a less-expensive choice for practicing for the precision matches.
For the actual matches I've been using Eley Black Match.
I took these out to my range yesterday.
The specs are similar to the Black Match.
At 50 yards the Black Match put 5 rounds inside of an inch.
Same gun ................ 5 rounds inside of 10" YIKES!!
Hard to believe Eley makes this.
I've owned and used many nice rests. I really wanted the front (only) Fire Control rest but the full-length came up on sale.
I ASSumed I could switch out the rear rest when I didn't need it.
No ............ it's completely different than the front (only) rest .......... so I built an adapter, and it works just fine, so I have what I wanted -- CHOICES!!
Now, for the rest itself, the bolts that hold the rear support wouldn't tighten and the control arm is so heavy it doesn't hold once you are on-target so I built my own control arm and now that works great, too!!
My range holds several different rimfire competitions, so I've invested in some high quality rifles and pistols.
I then tried a variety of rimfire ammo to see which gun liked which ammo. The rifles all preferred ELEY Black Match ($$$).
This produces almost identical results for less money. Try it!!!
My Nighthawk came with a fixed rear sight and I'm sure the target that came with the gun was shot with fine ammo, my handloads didn't allow a "six-o'clock" hold so I bought this.
Fitting was pretty easy to go into my dovetail and it looks great. Zeroing to a 6 o'clock took only 3 rounds but I wish it also had windage.
It's hard to justify the crazy price this asks for 22LR ammo ............ or primers, or powder. or ......... ?
But...... if you REALLY want consistent accuracy for those pesky Precision Rimfire matches ..... try the Eley Black. I wince every time I order a brick, but smile when the scores are posted!!!
I have several AR-15's and an AR-10 chambered in 6.5 CM. All have scopes which makes charging a bit challenging especially during timed matches. These were on sale so I bought one for the AR-15 and another for the AR-10. NICE!! They stick out just enough to more easily grab to charge. I'm glad I spotted these in a promotional email from O/P.
I received a great offer from OP and there was a short-term 10% coupon active (typical of OP) .... what's not to like? HIPERTOUCH triggers are VERY popular and the 3 Gun Model is perfect. I installed it this morning (skip their written instructions - go straight to their videos)in a brand new Ruger AR556 .... then thought I would write a review ..... surprise ............ this model has been discontinued by HIPERTOUCH . Now I know why I got such a great deal!!! Anyway .... I'm happy ..... sweet no-creep trigger pull ..... 3.5 to 4 pounds ..... quick reset ...... typical quick ship from OP.
O/P displayed LEE's earlier round primer dispenser ...... which I preferred and paid more than other sites.
I received the "triangular" version over the more functional and easier to use round one.
However ............ a few chats with O/P's customer service fixed the issue beautifully.
I'm still searching for a new "round" version but they've corrected their website.
I shoot 3 Gun Club matches and immediately bought the 1-6X Vortex Strike Eagle when first released. It worked great ............... then they announced the 1-8X at the same time we added a MUCH longer stage at our club. My senior citizen eyes had a bit of trouble with the longer shots ............ but the 8X REALLY helps.
The only criticism I have is that the lines and dot on the reticle is a tad larger / thicker than I would like.
I own a Vortex VIPER PST and I really like that reticle and it illuminates, too.
For quick target acquisition at close and longer distances ....... this is the answer.
