Not an enclosed reticle

Written on Apr 27, 2024

Just so you know, this IS NOT an enclosed optic. There is no rear glass. I assumed otherwise and that's on me. I just want others to know, in case you believe you're getting an enclosed sight.

Haters gonna hate.

Everyone relax and calm down. This plate carrier is not going to get you killed. The vast majority of you are NEVER going to stress this carrier beyond its limits or even use it more than to take instagram photos. If you don't have a $300 top of the line tier one plus, recon/seal/sniper/halo carrier, you can still survive a home invasion and probably won't even have time to put it on. The revolution is likely never coming and even if it does, your blue heroes that you love will have taken your guns long before you get in the fight. The great collapse/reset is almost certainly going to be a huge let down. So save yourself $250 or don't. It's your money.

I like the design of this carrier. The construction is adequate for the vast majority of what I do. Is it "just as good" as the triple priced carriers? Probably not but maybe? What guarantees do you have that those weren't made in the exact same chineesiam sweat shop? Yes it's made in China. No they didn't sew in fail safe explosives so can't resist them when they take over. Coupled with a magazine channel cummerbund, I have a relatively low profile set up. Now in full disclosure, I have trained with this carrier some but I wouldn't say I've stressed it out much. If I was more certain as to the exact durability of the construction, I'd likely give it five stars. Thus I'm only giving four stars.

Simply Awesome!

Written on May 13, 2021

So far I've loved everything I have from Aero. These are some fantastic uppers for a very reasonable price. I especially like the M4E1 design over their other models. There really isn't much you can say about them, except they are well built and work as designed. However Aero has a great rep so far and turns out an excellent product IMO. Kudo's to OP for managing to ship me some in stock! Keep up the good work Aero!

Limited review, no experience with durability(thus only four stars)

Written on Apr 12, 2021

I love the set up of this plate carrier. I like the features of the kangaroo system as well as the modularity of the center pouch. It's simple , light, modular and well priced. I cannot speak to the durability of it so far which is why I'm only awarding four stars. I've used it several times and done some running and gunning with it but I can't say I've really abused it yet. I think it will hold up fine as a home defense or training rig. If you plan on rolling down mountains in some far away place, maybe spend the extra money on a higher end name brand. Currently I'm running mine with an aftermarket cummerbund with magazine channels. It keeps it fairly low profile using this configuration. I believe you get a good enough quality product for the price. Far, far better than NCStar but probably not on the same playing field as HSGI.

Multi-Purpose weight saver

Let me start with I'm only giving it four stars because I have not had an opportunity to test it's durability yet. That being said, Veridian has a pretty good reputation, so I'm sure it's a five star product. I am all about minimalism when it comes to cool guying my rifles out. I like having a hand stop because I normally extend my arm out as far as I can when shooting. I like for that hand stop to be as minimalist and light weight as possible. Veridian checks both of those blocks. I also see value in having a visible laser, especially to combat reticle wash out from weapon lights. So between the minimalist size, low weight and multi-function of it, I love this product. Another reason why I like it is that it allows me to reduce/combine other accessories. Using the Baldr Pro-IR and the HS-1 together, I'm able to have a visible laser(green), high power weapon light(1350lm) and an IR laser in an extremely light weight set up. This laser will reach out to 250m, though it is a bit weak at that distance. Probably best used for 200m and in.

Limited review

Written on Jan 18, 2021

I've only had them for a short while and I have not worked them hard yet. So I cannot speak to the durability. However, they are so far functioning perfectly fine in my Aero Precision uppers. I went ahead and gave them five stars even though I don't have much longevity with them. I don't want to diminish them if it's not earned. I was looking for an inexpensive charging handle to use until the ones I really want are available. These fit the bill perfectly and will make some excellent back ups down the road.

Stopped working before I even shot it.

I purchased two of these based on the reviews. One from OP and one from another vendor. I received the one from the other vendor first. I unboxed it and turned it on and all looked good. Less than a week later I picked up the shotgun it was on to check it out again and it failed to ignite. I never even fired the gun with it mounted. I changed the batteries and still nothing. I returned both optics. I should have known better than to trust a Sightmark but I thought I'd take a chance. Other issued were a lot of blur of the reticle if you don't get the intensity setting just right.

Horrendous customer service

Written on Nov 11, 2020

I needed to replace some parts and contacted Franklin Armory and was told to buy them off of the website. Many of the parts on the trigger are somewhat easy to wear out or damage during installation or reinstall. When you're paying $368 for a trigger that cost them perhaps $30 in parts and another $20 in labor, least they can do is offer better customer service. I can really do without companies like this that nickel and dime their customers. I think it shows how little they value us.

Not impressed

Written on Feb 04, 2020

The illumination settings are far to low. I could barely see it on level 6 in the daylight. Without the illumination I couldn't see the reticle at all in daylight, thus making the etched reticle useless w/o illum. When I initially zeroed the optic I only had to adjust elevation by a couple of inches. Sixty rounds later, or less, I had a massive POI shift to the left of almost 9 inches. I received in back to center and continued firing without issue, so I can't say for certain if it is a long term issue. It certainly doesn't inspire one with confidence. It's allot bulker than I expected. For whatever reason I imagined it smaller. I own and have been impressed with the primary arms 3x32 and they are almost exactly the same size. When I removed the mounts and rails from both, because I don't use the rails, the PA 3x32 is actually a few ounces lighter than the MROC. This I believe contradicts the advertised weights of both products. I own and have used significantly several PA products all with zero issues so far. I've had to send in more Trijicon products for repair and have yet to repair any of my PA products. I wanted badly to like this optic but It did not meet a single expectation I had for weight, size and simple effective reticle or reliability.

Hella Good

Written on Aug 21, 2018

I am very impressed with the Sig Optics I've used so far, which is only two. However both have performed better than expected. The other one was the Romeo 5. I've had issues finding an optic that I could get the elevation high enough for my 9mm carbine. The Trijicon MRO would not elevate high enough, the Trijicon RM05 and the RX06 wouldn't either. I purchased two of these for my quick access home defense shorties. One is a 9mm and the other is a 5.56 MCX. They both zeroed very quickly, no chasing the zero. The groups with the MCX were sub 2" at 32 meters without a bench rest. I'm not going to talk about the groups with the 9mm, however it did zero and I don't think the group size is a reflection on this optic. I have issues achieving tight groups with other optics and this carbine. Changing the battery is a breeze and does not require removing the optic from the mount. Things I love about this optic: Light weight, QD Mount, Glow in the dark brightness adjustments, 25mm FOV, MOTAC Sensor. In my opinion this is the perfect choice for a quick access gun. Nothing to turn on and excellent FOV.
