Kid you not, I just had the exact same experience as chuck.
I picked up a KDS9C and immediately found the Kimber factory optic plate in stock here and discovered the promo a day or two later and simply assumed it would be the Kimber plate included. By that time OP already had my plate in the mail so I intended to return it after receiving the other.

Turns out the CH Precision one that came in the promo was not nearly the quality standard I was expecting. I preferred the CH Rear Sight on the plate, but it was a bit loose to the slide cut and uses loose nuts instead of threaded holes in the plate itself. After installing and realizing I missed placing the nuts into the slide prior, all 4 of the screws stripped as they were a REALLY soft aluminum.

The Kimber brand plate is a night and day difference in terms of quality. The rear sight is not bad at all, just a little lower than the CH, but all tolerances were tight even before screwing down, and came with much higher quality hardware.

If you can find them, but this plate over the CH Plate - you will be much happier with the durability.
