I’ve had these almost two weeks and am very impressed with the quality of these NVGs. I previously used green phosphor early Gen 2 NVGs and these are a big step up, in both clarity and definition! The white phosphor is the way to go…I’ve taken these out into the woods on a clear night with no moonlight and just starlight, and even at a minimal gain I can see everything very clearly…definitely can tell a difference with the 2300 FOM. As far as I can tell, I haven’t noticed any blemishes. The 51 degree FOV provides more visibility over the 40 models, and there is no distortion at the edges reported in other 50/51 models. Yes, eye relief is a little bit tighter, but once adjusted in place I don’t notice it. I like the subdued LED indicators at the edges in both tubes to indicate the IR Illuminator is on or the battery is low…being on the edge they are out of the way but still visible, and bright enough to be seen, but do not overwhelm or even impact your ability to see thru the tubes. The IR illuminator works as advertised…manual states it will work out to 3 meters and I can confirm that, maybe slightly further. The focus rings and diopter rings are just tight enough so as not to easily knock them out of adjustment but still be able to turn them while mounted. I mounted this on a Mossberg 930 and it’s worked great. I had another brand’s reflex sight on it, and after 10 rounds, the zero drifted and wouldn’t move horizontally, no matter how many clicks I adjusted. But, I’ve put 20 rounds thru it (all buckshot) with the 510C and it’s maintained zero perfectly. The green reticle is much easier for target acquisition, both day and night. Good FOV and the reticle adjusts for practical use from bright daylight to night. The lower profile and light weight makes it an ideal addition. The shake to wake and solar cell capabilities top off an already excellent sight.
