Tru-Spec Tru Gen-3 ECWCS Level-1 Top

Written on Apr 19, 2016

I have mixed reactions after having received and worn this garment.

On the plus side, it is lightweight, easy to care for, and (though I have not worn it in harsh winter conditions as one of several layers of clothing) I have no reason to doubt that it would contribute well to keeping me warm.

On the minus side, the design and cut leave much to be desired. The neckline in particular needs improvement. It is elasticized to stretch out for bigger heads when putting it on, but the elastic returns to its default size ~ which is tight, constrictive and uncomfortable to wear for very long. I think that if the default neck diameter were made a bit larger, this problem would go away.

Further, the top on display in the online ad is black, which is what I thought I ordered. But I received a tan-colored top, which I did not care for.

That's all. It isn't a terrible garment, but it isn't a great one either.

review of Tru-Spec 24-7 Tactical Vest

Written on Mar 24, 2016

This vest is truly well-designed, well-constructed, and a great value. When I first lifted it from the package, I thought "Oh man, this will be too hot for summer'. But no, once you put it on, it is light, with easy-access cargo pockets, comfortable, and it not only looks good just as a well-fitted piece of sporting wear, it functions superbly for concealed carry.

I own a Glock 30-sf (.45 ACP), and until now have carried it concealed very nicely in a paddle holster with an overgarment. The beauty of this vest is that it is long enough to be very effective at erasing the imprint of a weapon carried in an OWB or IWB holster placed in any position around your belt line, as well as providing four secure and accessible reinforced cargo pockets (two on each side, upper and lower) for concealed carry in the vest itself, with equal weapon outline concealment for all choices of carry, and no sagging on one side of the vest from the weight of the gun.

I'm not an easy person to impress, but this vest is every bit as versatile, stylish, and (so far) durable as is advertised. I'm very pleased to have it for possible wear year-round.

A sweet little laser sight with mounting problems

Written on Jan 30, 2015

This product is a good idea looking for slight changes to make it even better. It is compact and puts out a bright beam which is adjustable vertically and horizontally.

However, the head of the mounting screw which secures the laser to my Glock's rail, and the Allen wrenches used to secure it and adjust it, are all so small that I found it difficult to attach and detach quickly. The design is such that if you don't set the wrench to the screw head exactly right, you'll probably drop the wrench. At least, that's what happened to me. Once mounted and sighted in to match your 3-dot sights, it functions just fine. But installation is awkward.
