Not our first 5.11 Tactical 1." Belt

Written on Nov 01, 2025

This is our family's "first go-to" tactical belt as it's sturdy enough to support a holstered pistol but narrow enough to wear with any style of pants. This was a purchase for our younger son, and it's the exact same belt I gave five years ago to our older son (and purchased 10 years ago for myself). Sure, I've got other tactical belts that are either nicer or a better fit for specific applications, but this one is solid and still sees regular use.

Great bullpup or SBR case

Written on Feb 06, 2024

I bought this to replace the 30" version I was using for my IWI TAVOR 7 which was prefect before, but became slightly too snug, after, I installed the Manticore curved buttpad (a necessary upgrade given the slick plastic one they put on at the factory and rear-heavy nature of the 7.62 bullpup. I really liked the 30" version, but this 34" case is netter-finished with more expandability and nicer internal components. That said, I'll happily reuse the original 30" case if I ever add an IWI TAVOR X95 to my collection. And while it's not really a complaint, the only issue I've encountered is that the the pocket used to secure the barrel is too rigid and tall to easily zip the case once you've loaded up the other side with MOLLE magazine pouches, etc. This might have been less of a problem with 5.56 magazines than with the thicker 7.62 magazines, but I did have to canbalize the unused 30' case for its thinner barrel pouch to make everything fit and zip the full case.

The best quality shell carrier available for the Mossberg 500

Written on Jan 22, 2024

I didn't really want to spend nearly $80 on an aluminum shell carrier for a 20GA Mossberg 500 (20" Special Purpose version owned by my son; this was a Christmas present), and I was a bit disappointed that MESA didn't offer this in the lighter, and slightly cheaper, polymer version, but man am I glad I spent the extra money and didn't try to cheap out on quality. It was super-easy to install, and it holds the shells very firmly while still allowing insertion and removal with reasonable efficiency. The little 500 should last my son a lifetime, and this carrier will likely last even longer. Fantastic product!

Good quality, but 20ga forearm with a 12ga stock...

Written on Oct 07, 2023

I ordered this because I was having trouble finding a full-size 20ga stock to replace the short stock on my Mossberg Special Purpose shotgun. For those of you who have tried to replace a 20ga stock on a 500, you know that the 12ga stocks will fit, but the stock will be a bit wider than the receiver.

Seeing that this was listed as a 20ga stock set, I incorrectly assumed this applied to both the forearm (12ga and 20ga forearms DO NOT interchange) AND the stock. The quality is great, and it does mount solidly, but if you want a stock which properly fits the narrower 20ga receiver, keep looking...

Perfect low mount

Written on Oct 01, 2023

I didn't want a red dot sitting way up high on a picatinny rail as I'm not running night vision, so this is perfect! Lower 1/3 cowitness on my M2 Tactical with the Micro H-2, and the mount seems super-sturdy. Really glad I found this mount!

Really nice rifle case

Written on Feb 24, 2023

This is not my first Savior Equipment case, so I was expecting the quality. I like the setup and flexibility of this bag, and it works really well for my Remington 700 (6.5 Creedmoor, Magpul stock, 22" barrel). No complaints.

Decent bubble level for the money

Written on Nov 06, 2022

This isn't my favorite bubble level, but I wanted to stay away from tube-mounted levels for this build, and there was no ring-mounted option for my application (Trijicon Cantilever Mount w/Q-LOC). It suits its purpose, but I may end up swapping for the version that folds to the side as this one sticks out a bit more than I like with the protective cover screwed on.

Fine power source so long as you're near an outlet

Written on Aug 02, 2022

We bought this because the onboard battery compartment on our new Celestron NexStar 4SE wasn't working. We used it for a while but ended up buying the Celestron battery pack so as not to be limited to sites where we had access to electrical power. It's fine for what it is, but the battery pack is much more useful.

LOVE the telescope, but Quality Control from the factory was horrible.

Written on Jul 23, 2022

Let me start by saying that this is a wonderful telescope for a beginner. We gave it to our 15-year-old daughter for Christmas, and she loves it. We appreciate that you can enter in whatever you want to watch, and the motor will track the object all night long.

We also appreciate the heavy-duty tripod. It seems to be the same one used on the much larger and heavier models, so it was a nice bonus on this smaller 4" unit.

We did purchase an adapter ring for her camera, but we have not used it for that kind of photography yet. I understand it helps in photographing fainter in that it allows you to stitch together longer exposures, but I cannot say yet how well, or easily, it work, only that the camera fits well to the telescope with it installed.

Our only complaint is the QC, but it is a major one. When we received the telescope, the battery pack did not have all the connectors in it, so the unit was useless. We ended up ordering the external pack, which is almost a necessity as I understand the AA batteries won't last very long with the motor running, and once they go, you have to start the setup process over.

When we called to inquire as to proper resolution, OpticsPlanet gave us the number for Celestron. Upon reaching them, they immediately shipped out a new pack, but now it's up to us to disassemble the telescope and install it. Maybe we could have sent it back for repair, but they said it would be easy; it was not, so we're still running only on the external pack.

Good binoculars for the price

Written on May 10, 2022

I really can't say anything bad about these. They are rugged and have good enough glass, especially at this price. Also, I do like that they came with both a neck strap and a chest harness.

In the interest of full disclosure, I wish I had spent a bit more and gotten the Viper line as I have since used a pair of those, but they're twice as much, and again, these are very fine binoculars for the money.
