BLUF: Excellent upgrade to any shotgun with a plastic follower

Written on May 24, 2025

This is an easy, affordable, and simple upgrade to any shotgun with a plastic factory follower. The hollow design provides ample room for many types and diameters of magazine springs. The color will eventually wear off on the sides but will stay visible on the face. With an aluminum body it will not score steel magazine tubes and will last for thousands of rounds. Only design improvement would be some kind of small hole, texture, or bumps on the face to be a tactile indicator when empty. The small triangle indents cannot be felt with gloves.

BLUF: Good for the price, design could use rework

The design and materials used in the tray are of good quality and securely hold binoculars in place.
Only issue is the universal concept. It works best with tubular or roof prism binoculars. It will hold porro prism binoculars well enough but does not fit their contour. The rubber strap has good elasticity providing ample adjustment for the vast majority of handheld optics. Combined with the rubber pad, the mount has a secure grip on the optic. The rubber strap is convenient for quickly mounting binoculars and still allows use of the optic the entire assembly is taken off the tripod. The rubber parts do collect and hold dirt but can be easily washed off. Overall, a good design at a low price that can work on a variety of binocular models.

User note: Be aware, this mounts binoculars very low to the tripod and the elevation handle may prevent the user from having proper head position.

Excellent binoculars for the price.

Performance is on par with other optics in the $300-400 price range. Not sure why Vortex originally priced it as +$700.
Excellent light transfer, good range of adjustability, and great clarity.
Ranging reticle is in the left tube. For my specific purposes, I would rather the reticle be in the right tube.
Vortex designed the reticle to be off center and over the non-dominant eye so it interferes less with the overall picture. However it does make it somewhat difficult to focus on the reticle. If you want a pair of binoculars that are primarily for observation and occasionally use the reticle, this is a excellent option. If you are looking for performance with the reticle, for $700 there are better options. However, at the current price of ~$300 its hard to beat.
