A great alternative and reliable competitor

Written on Oct 21, 2024

I originally bought this ammo elsewhere due to limited availability at the time, but can testify that it is a very consistent, accurate and reliable product based on my experience with two different AR platforms. It is a bit more expensive than other comparable brass ammo (thus 4 stars instead of 5), but it it does perform surprisingly like one would expect from a premium round. Would certainly recommend the Belom as a serious target or defense round. Some buyers do not like the nonconventional packaging, but for me that's not in the rating equation.

Underwhelmed

Written on Oct 05, 2024

I have always been satisfied with Vortex optics, but this is the first exception. Given past performance and the ratings, this was a disappointment for anything much beyond 300 yds; the clarity and crispness were not there but distortion was. Secondly, if the protective cover is on, the adjustment knobs can be rather difficult to operate. However, most significantly was the poor base fitting when attached to the Vortex tripods (bench and tall expandable); the design is such that there is not a solid and square underpinning, resulting in a very wobbly and jumpy sight picture. Yes, it is an intro model and a fair price, but the quality is far below what was anticipated. I cannot recommend this item, but if you are looking to buy this budget spotting scope, would recommend the angled, not the straight, eyepiece to avoid fatigue and looking like a human question mark when bent over and using a support pod.

Qualty product that needs protection

Written on Sep 06, 2024

Mounted this on a Shield M&P 9mm edc; love the choice of reticles, and the green color picks up fast. A short learning curve on the operation. If your eyes are aging or have astigmatism, this will eliminate the sight radius focusing btwn front & rear sight. I'm not a great pistol shooter, but the improved accuracy was very obvious. Also, if you have a pop-up loaded barrel indicator,it might need to be replaced with a flush top as it can be annoying. Carry a lens pen and cleaning wipes for the glass as it can dirty very easily from gunsmoke and dust. Sorry Holosun but I took off a star from this beautiful but pricey quality optic. For the price you could included a dust cover; even my cheapie came with one. Regardless, it has been worth the investment and would recommend.

Spot On Bargain Deal

Written on Mar 29, 2019

I rate this as 5 stars for the quality, price, and performance for my specific firearms and uses.

Reasons:
Light weight and Easy to install; has not required any additional tightening
Wide field of view, especially for moving targets
Dual color and reticles for various light conditions and target size.

On an AR, it will shoot a 4" cluster @ 100 yds. with quality ammo; not a gold medal performance but for plinking, range shooting and defense needs it is plenty accurate. I agree with other reviewer that you should pick one reticle and stay with it or re-sight allover as changing the size/style did effect the point of impact considerably. Unlike conventional optics, there is no MOA click to adjust, but after a few rounds at the range the hex wrench adjusting is manageable. Would not recommend for heavy recoil firearms as it can affect the point of aim. I also installed one of these on a .177 cal. air rifle and it has been a perfect pairing so far. Unless you are in into competition or extreme long-range shooting I Would certainly recommend buying and trying on different long guns with low to moderate recoil.

Great Intro Model

Written on Jan 29, 2017

Pros: Great value for the money; clear glass; many accessories included that are not available on most scopes; QD rings are tight, solid and easily adjustable; the mil dot range estimator is accurate, but can fatigue the eyes. Focus and reticle knobs have enough resistance to reduce inadvertent adjustment. Adjustable objective is a bonus, and makes you appreciate the addition. Fits very well on Picantinny rail. Owner's manual is clear and concise.

Cons: Is chunky and heavy in looks and weight; red and green reticles are good when light is reduced but not under bright light situations (thus the sunshade); although compact, you may need needle nose or hooked fingers to get under the eyepiece to pull the charging handle on AR platforms. Fish eye effect is very prominent on my Bug buster and the head must be perfectly aligned on the stock for unimpeded view (a major flaw IMHO) .

So far the scope has performed well on the range, although limited in a few ways as described above. These peculiarities can be overcome, but this is not an optic I would choose to pursue game or depend on for extreme self defense situations. However, as an entry level optic this really is a great value for its quality and what is included in the package. In sum, I would recommend this for limited budgets that want a decent scope will all accessories and intend to use it primarily for plinking and range shooting under changing light conditions.

Fire-stick Bikini

Written on Jan 09, 2017

My review is limited to the use on a Simmons 3x-9x x 32 and Leupold 3-9x40 scope. First of all, for less than $10, this accessory is a very good buy, so purchase more than one. The fit on the Simmons was opposite from the directions as the eyepiece is actually slightly larger diameter than the objective, but that is not important for my purpose. The cup was very tight on the front but slightly loose on the back so it does not appear to be watertight. On the Leupold the cups were both well-sealed but the skinny band tension is very taught, which leads me to think the bands could wear out prematurely on larger scopes. Ergo, the BC Bikini scope cover is a great buy for smaller optics, but certainly buy a spare or two if planning using on the larger ones.

Part II of Mixed Review

Written on Dec 03, 2016

After receiving the replacement scope for use on a Ruger 10-22 SS Takedown, I used a pair of Warne QD rings to match the silver color and headed for the range several times. Pleased to report the performance was excellent after getting sighted in. Consistent 1-2" groupings @ 50 yds. I also removed the scope several times, and it held zero. It took a lot of initial adjustments to get it zeroed-in, but what I discovered is that this is best done @ the 50 yd. range. Closer shots were for some reason difficult to adjust. A solid four stars to this bargain optic and the only blemish is there is what some call "eye-shadow" when the sunlight reflects on the objective @ a certain angle, but an extension cup would resolve that annoying issue. I would certainly recommend this as a great intro-level scope for rimfire arms; excellent price, nice looks, is streamlined and doesn't overwhelm the gun; easily adjustable power ring; clear glass; very crisp reticle, and sold by a company that has a wonderful return policy, and without it I would not be providing an updated review.

Mixed Experience, Part I

Written on Nov 07, 2016

For an entry-level scope, I was impressed with the clarity of the glass, the crisp reticle, and the slim design that is perfect for my rimfire caliber rifle. The rings actually clamped down very well onto the dovetail rail mount, which was surprising considering that most purchasers had bad experience with them, understandably. The zoom worked well, albeit quite stiff to turn. The finish is rather thin and the lens covers are hard plastic, but they serve a function. First volley on the range and the accuracy was amazing (one inch high, but tight group @ 20 yds.). However, that's where all the great things stopped as the elevation turret would not change the reticle to adjust the point of impact. Thanks to the generous return and shipping policy by OP, it has been sent back for an exchange. Normally I would just get something different, but I believe the Simmons .22 mag rimfire scope is a very good buy if everything is working properly, so I will give it another chance to redeem itself. I can only recommend this product at this time because of OPs return policy and will provide further review after the replacement is received and tested. Ergo, currently a 2 star performance because of a major malfunction, but with the potential for 5 if it works to full potential.
