Most Helpful Positive Review Deputy Sheriff
Ed Brown magazines are consistently one of if not the best magazine for the money. I have three 1911’s (duty, SWAT, and competition) they work consistently with all three regulars less of what type ammunition I feed them. When breaching doors one thing I do not have to worry abut is the magazine in ...

Most Helpful Negative Review Digital marking on the bottom
The magazine is well constructed. However, there is a "feature" on the bottom of the magazine, a digital embossing. The packaging indicates that you can use paint to mark your magazines from 00 to 99. This digital embossing thus shows "88" if you don't paint in the lines. This seems like a thinl...

Almost perfect...but not quite.

by SS, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on May 17, 2024
I received my 2 Ed Brown .45 ACP 1911 8 round stainless-steel magazines undamaged and in a timely manner. The one mag. fit perfectly into my new Springfield Armory Milspec .45 ACP 1911 (5") and snapped easily into place with just a push. The other mag., however, required a hard smack on the butt pad to seat and lock it into the gun. I removed the plastic bottom and let the secondary metal cover under it hold the spring in place and it snapped perfectly into the gun. A bit of light sanding (maybe .005" to .010") of the top of the plastic cover where it hits the mag-well slightly would take care of this small issue of "tightness". The magazine depicted shows numbers adjacent to the bullet sight holes, however, there were no numbers on the mags. I received. I would still buy these again as they are well rated and high quality built. The metal follower is also nice, and more period correct if you care about that. I would recommend these magazines.
Pros:
  • High quality
Cons:
  • Might need some love
Best Used for:
  • 1911 Milspec .45 ACP
Would recommend: Yes

Very high quality 1911 Mag

by StevieGJD, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on April 29, 2023
I ordered 3 of these for a new 1911 I just purchased. I might be able to afford an Ed Brown 1911 some day. But these magazines are not expensive, especially if you get the unpainted version. They are very high quality. They operate smoothly and fit perfectly.
Pros:
  • good price
  • Good design
  • Well constructed
  • Smooth & Crisp operation
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • 1911
