Most Helpful Negative Review What is Hogue thinking.
I didn't buy this from Optics Planet. I bought it from Midway. Sent it back the same day. Didn't fit properly. I'm totally perplexed on what Hogue was thinking. How do they justify making such an excellent handguard and then such a poorly designed accessory that costs almost twice as much as the handguard? If this thing fit correctly, it should have cost maybe $40-50 tops. Use one of the many better and cheaper options instead. Send Hogue feedback on this item. I can't believe they haven't redesigned and slashed price on this product flop. By the way, Optics Planet is the best though. Pros: N...

Expensive - but useful

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from WI, United States Written on August 16, 2013
A new upper for my AR came with the Hogue handguard. Suprisingly, this handguard had no way to mount anything to it - and this cuff rail was $99. At first I thought, "what a rip-off". When I added up the items on the cuff the price began to seem more reasonable and, when I factored in the ability to remove it completely if not needed, I began to like it. The handguard, however is still terribly overpriced and under-designed. Come on Hogue, how much does it cost to drill and tap a few holes so a user can add picatiny rails??
Pros: Removeable
Cons: A bit expensive

Hogue Picatinny Cuff

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from WA, United States Written on June 17, 2013
I read the three other reviews and was concerned. I really wanted an item like this for my Stag Armes Model 6 Super Varminter. I will use it for hunting coyote and shooting at the range.

Pathetic Rail Cuff

by Nanook 450, Verified Owner from OK, United States Written on March 28, 2012
Bought a 6.8 Stag Hunter with the Hogue free float handguard; you would think this item would fit perfectly, it does not. The clamp/screw/lock whatever" mechanism does not fit flush even after extensive attempts to adjust. I would not expect this item to stand up to any repetitive shooting, much less attach expensive lights to the "cuff" - just tap your hand guard, or spend another $50 and get the handguard you want. This thing is a joke - could not get it back in the package and return it soon enough. Optics Planet took it back with no hassle, no restock fee and was very gracious. This item really is pathetic and an insult to anyone wanting to build a real fighting/hunting AR.
Pros: none
Cons: fits poorly, does not clamp firmly, would not support common attachments

Worst Ever

by Nanook 450, Verified Owner from OK, United States Written on March 9, 2012
I own a Stag 7H with a factory Hougue free-float handguard. Have a bi-pod attached to the swivel stud. Need offset sights and a green light for hog hunting. Bought this "cuff rail" thinking it would be perfect. Does not fit the Hogue handguard, and even if it did, is not designed for anything heavy and looks like it would slip. For the amount they charge, I'd just add another $50 and get a handguard with the rails I want. This went right back in the package for a return. Don't wast your time with this joke of an accessory.
Cons: Does not fit - weak - looks pathetic
