I purchased two of these and put them in my vehicles. Within one week of installing it my truck, the truck was stolen. Fortunately I only had keys in the vault at the time. The thief was successful in prying an opening in the side of the vault and removed the keys, but never did defeat the latching or hinge mechanism.
Great Little Safe
I bought this to have a place to safely store my carry gun when I needed to go in somewhere (bar, post office) that doesn't allow carry. I didn't need the more expensive quick access models because my gun is rarely in it. I bought the larger 2700 model so I would have room for other valuables besides my gun. I keep it behind my driver's seat with the cable wrapped around the rear bolt that fastens the driver's seat to the floor. I've had no issues with it.

solid product
I have had trouble with some other portable safes in the past. Mainly the locking mechanism wearing down, loosening, or breaking over relatively short time periods. That being said this Hornady keylock looks like it'll be a consistent staple when traveling with my firearm. Good weight to it, heavier then a lot of the common portable safes you'll find in local gun shops. The bottom is flat with four rubber buffers/pads which i thought was a nice touch. The top is curved slightly. Key works very well, tight fit but is easy to insert and rotate to engage or disengage the locking mechanism. Inside is padded with high quality foam. Fits my Sig P299 and two magazines comfortably. Comes with a security cable which has worked well for me so far.
