I purchased an Rapid Safe AR Locker thinking it would be one of the best things I could buy. I thought, with Hornady's reputation, what could go wrong? I received the safe and registered the warranty. It worked great until my wife accidentally bumped the vacuum cleaner into it. The AC power stopped working, and the front panel flashed red as if the batteries were low or the lock wasn't secured. I called Hornady's warranty department. After a lengthy conversation, the representative told me to try fixing it myself. I asked if that would void the warranty, and he was adamant it wouldn't. The safe is sitting empty in my garage now, as I don't know how to fix safes. I'm disappointed in how delicate the electronics in the safe are and at Hornady's failure to honor their warranty. Fixing it myself? Some warranty!
I'd give it zero stars if I could.

I could not have made a better choice with the Hornady Rapid Safe AR gun locker. The size is just right to fit and be bolted down inside my wardrobe closet, inconspicuous and child-proof. The tamper-resistant hefty steel construction is reassuring. It easily accommodates an AR rifle, two handguns and a good supply of boxed ammo. It offers three convenient modes of operating the locking mechanism with consistent reliability. Quality is top notch and not overly priced. I am very pleased with this purchase and I give it my unqualified endorsement. Indeed, a solid choice.
Best Used for:
- Securing a small collection

Perfect condition and quick shipment. Works perfect for securing weapons with space limitations. Very well constructed and plenty of room for AR and accessories along with some ammo and pistols. Noisey when opening is the only draw back.

After having purchased multiple similar long gun lock ups including those from Barska and Sentry Hornady finally delivered. It keeps a single carbine length AR with lights, grips and optics resting on its side. I’ve gone so far as to buy 3, first and second floor as well as the trunk of my Jeep (fits like a glove). Great work Hornady!

Works as it should with 3 methods of entry but the lock actuator is super loud with beeps and the inside corners are rusted at the welds. Hornady offered to replace it but I had already bolted it down by the time I noticed, plus what a pain to pack it back up even if it wasnt bolted down yet. So instead they are sending me a dehumidifier an LED motion sensor light.
Overall its feels very secure and a solid locker but just know what youre getting into.

It came as stated and is very solid. I like the rigid foam inserts to store guns. The RFID tags make opening the safe very easy. Also the keep pad was easy to program. There are different mounting options, side and back.
Pros:
- Easy to mount and easy to program

The setup for this safe was very easy. Only thing that was confusing is the location of the RFID chip on the wristband that comes with it. Hornady customer service for Hornady was easily accessed and quickly helped resolve the problem. Fits both of my ARs very easily with a lottle room for other valuable. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a safe specifically for ARs.

Great quick access safe. RFID works great. Ideally have it in a place where you can plug it in the wall. This allows the safe to read the RFID instantly. Otherwise, battery operated, requires you to activate the safe by pushing the "H". Still fast, just easy to wave the RFID and go!
I was not able to fit my AR and shotgun (mainly due to my furniture on the firearms).
Overall, I bought two of these. One for my wife's side of the bed with her PDW.

The box itself is well built. The locking mechanism on the other hand is very loud. I'd have to hold the turning knob when unlocking to slow down the rotation to keep the noise down. What bugs me the most is the AC plug. Not only is the cord short, it's not a tight fit when plugged inside the safe. It's such a loose fit that there's no power to use the key fob. Most of the time I'd have to use the key.
