I am a beginner shooter who had been shooting sporadically at indoor ranges or at outdoor bench rests over the years but finally signed up for a 2-day tactical rifle course in western NC over the weekend, where quick transitions from standing, to kneeling and prone shooting positions on gravel were required, so I was awfully glad to have this pad on my left supporting elbow (in addition to knee pads). Gravel is bad, but concrete is worse. The thing I liked about this pad was the attachment is by keyhole on pegs and not just velcro. Velcro attachment only is an absolute non-starter for me as eventually, it will not hold- as I found out after buying some knee pads from a traditional reputable tactical gear company. On this elbow pad, there are two velcro footprints to adjust the size for each elastic strap (one for large and one for small which had the appropriate amount of tension for me, a 250 lb guy and I adjusted for the larger and it was great. There is a U shaped interior foam pad, the apex pointing upward that fits over the triceps tendon that improved the fit and prevented sliding- both up and down as well as rotational. My daughter is small stature 5-5 120 lbs and not surprisingly even using the closer velcro attachment resulted in it being loose.
The pad is ambidextrous and therefore for you purists, there is no 7-degree valgus anatomic carrying angle built into the pad. (sorry but as an orthopod, could not resist) which would then require a left and right version w...
