This is not a review of the product performance. It is a comment on the type of power cord that comes with the 230 volt version.
This version comes with a power cord that has a Euro-style 230 volt plug which is, of course, not compatible with US receptacles.
The product description does not mention this (nor does Lyman's website) and since it clearly states that the furnace can't be shipped outside the US, one would assume it has a US type plug. This is not the case.
To use the machine one would need a plug adapter or a modified cord. I've opted to exchange for the 115 volt version.
My "no" recommendation is based on the fact that the 230 volt version does not have a US-compatible power cord.

This furnace would have been rated 5 stars but the mould guide was poorly thought out. It of course fits Lyman moulds, and the old Lee moulds but not the newer small base ones. Also does not work with custom moulds. All of this would have been alright if they would not have made the guides pivot point permanent so you could remove and use without. Lyman had some problems getting this item to market. The melter is great, the guide is very poor design. Simply make it adjustable.

Plugged it in...burned off the processing oil and added lead. Set the thermastat and was shortly casting bullets. No leak to the bottom spout, even temp maintenance...just amazing. Even the first bullets turned out great...a great purchase.

I have and have been using a Lee drip-omatic bottom pour for a long time and have poured several thousand bullets with this furnace. The problem has always been you can not get the drips to stop.
I looked at the reviews for the RCBS the problem is the price I can not see where the RCBS is worth the difference.
The new Lyman Mag. 25 holds the temperature, does not drip and heats very quick.
I have poured about 200 bullets hundred at this point with good success.
Pros:
- Priced well.
- holds temp.
- heats quick
- does not drip
Cons:
- has to be at a higher temp. to keep the bottom pour spout from freezing

Good quality product at a competitive price. The RCBS Pro-melt is probably a more durable unit with an excellent reputation, but at a substantially higher cost. The user has to decide if his needs/usage justifies one over the other.
The only complaint I have with the Lyman unit is the mold guide that works well with Lyman molds and Lee 2 cavity molds but not Lee 6 cavity molds or other brands such as NOE or Accurate molds. A little better product engineering by Lyman would have given this part a truly universal application.

Great unit! Heats fast, very good control unit(Within 10 degrees), large lead capacity.
Only complaint: Mold Guide will not fit Lee 6 Cavity molds (Which I just happen to use 90% of the time)
I cut a 1/8" sheet of aluminum sheet to fit into the Mold compartment securely, then cut out a drip through slot (1" wide by 2" long). Works great.
Glad I found it available on Optics Planet and ordered it. Good buy, fast service.

Gets hot pretty fast, but the nice thing is how you can monitor the temp so well. Simple delivery handle still makes an old job still simple. I was worried they had made this newer model complicated, they did not. Still made well too.
Pros:
- Temp gauge
- Lead/Load capacity great
