I have a cheaper set of fixed offset standard iron sights from Ozark Armament on my scoped rifle. I replaced the front post with a TruGlo TG-H3 front sight post. The TG-H3 is bright and always visible. Wanted something on the rear aperture to line up with but wasn't willing to spend $300+ on Troy or similar when for that price I could almost get a Holosun 507.
This was the perfect solution for a fraction of the price. The dots are definitely on the dimmer side, as other reviews have mentioned. It's noticeably dimmer than my TG-H3 front post sight, but it actually works really well to line up the shot. They are just bright enough to see in order to line up 4 the hazy dots against the contrast of the brighter front dot. The night sights on my stock P365 are exactly the same way and work great.
All together, I think I spent $40 on the fixed offset sights, $40 on the TG-H3, and $70 on the Meprolight rear aperture. So ~$150 for "Troy clone". Disclaimer: I have never actually looked through as et of Troys, so maybe they are worth the extra coin, but for me this setup was exactly what I was looking for for less than half the price I would have spent.
Pros:
- fit in place of standard rear aperture
- dimness gives excellent contrast w/ front dot
Best Used for:
- low light or night scenarios
- in combination with something like a TG-H3

I was unsure what to expect based on some of the reviews, but this rear peep sight is awesome, it glows just the right amount. The dots give you a blur as a peep sight would, letting you focus on the front post looking through the four blurry rear dots. I paired it with a different brand tritium front sight. Really glad I found a good iron sight nighttime solution. I think the people that have this a bad review are not familiar with how bright tritium is. If this were any brighter it would not be good because it's the rear sight you only want a dim glow right in your eye.

Works great. A little dim, but gives the contrast needed to help get sight picture in lower light

Not bright enough for dusk or dawn usage. Only can be seen in total darkness. I do not recommend this for any military or service personnel. I unfortunately mounted it before checking its validity so no returns.
Pros:
- Fits in standard A2 aperture

The rear aperture glow is WAY better than the Trijicon model. The Trijicon rear apature does not glow at all, none, zero. This sight is PERFECT. I also like the 4-dot design a lot. I have zero compliments and zero regrets. Good product!
Best Used for:
- A sight that works.
- A replacement for Trijicon apature

The 4 tritium dots have a gentle glow that isn't noticeable in daylight or even typical indoor lighting. In deep shade to complete darkness, the glow of the rear dots blurs a bit, but is still visible, allowing fast alignment with a tritium or phosphorescent front sight post.
While not as easy of a sight picture as a red dot or other illuminated optic, don't need to be turned on, can't turn off, and can't accidentally be turned up bright enough to affect one's low light vision.
I installed this rear sight on a Midwest Industries fixed rear sight on a .458 Socom AR pistol for backcountry adventures in grizzly country. It was part of keeping that build under 4.5 lbs.
Pros:
- always on
- no batteries
- Not too bright
- self powered
Cons:
- illumination lasts only 12 years
Best Used for:
- Low light
- Darkness
- SHTF AR-15

Ordered the 4 dot for a home defense carbine build and either it was old stock or maybe the way all the 4 dots are but for the one received the performance was lacking. It was however better than nothing in the dark. The lesser expensive 2 dot version was installed and made sighting clearer and quicker. The 4 dot may work for some people but it just did not work that well for me in the dark. Had the dots been brighter there would be no issues as the sight part appears well made.

I installed it and loved it. A week later one of the four dots on the rear aperture no longer illuminated. I’ll follow up with the company and see if they will send another rear aperture, but not a good first impression. I would recommend opticsplanet take the product off the site in the meantime.
