OIFVet83's Review of Meprolight MEPRO Foresight Red Dot Sight 1x20mm

This thing is techno junk. I love new tech. I like being an early adopter of all sorts of technology. I am an engineer and I have worked in several government test labs. I don't know everything about optics, but what I do know is that this thing is a toy, at best. Think Nerf. What's the battery life? Is it waterproof/resistant? Is it shockproof? Up to what caliber is it safe to use? What color is the display? All questions that could be answered by anyone that gives a hoot, but not Meprolight. It's all plastic, apparently with a 50 hr battery life (according to a youtube video, I dont think mine would get 20 hrs). I'm not going to test its water resistance, I'll assume there's a reason they didn't divulge that information. This is supposedly one of the most technologically advanced optics out there, but the included instructions are on a single sheet of paper, that looks like it was printed on a $60 Lexmark printer from 1998. The optics tells you to refer to the instructions in the app when calibrating the compass, but the app has no instructions in it. All around a garbage optic, and i'm sure they will stop updating firmware in no time for the 6 people that buy this thing and actually keep it.
Pros:
  • Big field of view
Cons:
  • everything else
