Most Helpful Positive Review UPDATE to previous review "Hot Garbage"
In my previous review, I gave my frank and honest (albeit sharp) opinion of the Foresight optic as it stood. Subsequent to that, I replaced my Foresight with an RDS Pro V.2 with a green reticle, which I think very highly of. I was contacted by a representative of Meprolight to clarify some of the th...

Most Helpful Negative Review Hot Garbage
This thing is techno junk. I love new tech. I like being an early adopter of all sorts of technology. I am an engineer and I have worked in several government test labs. I don't know everything about optics, but what I do know is that this thing is a toy, at best. Think Nerf. What's the battery life...

Sight with a lot of potential, abandoned by meprolight

by Sterling, from UT, United States Written on February 1, 2023
I've had this sight for a long time, and it has a lot of potential, but is effectively abandoned by meprolight, and have not seen any updates or fixes for well over a year. Mine initially shipped with the round counter, but did not work, and an update removed it. The level indicator no longer works, and meprolight will not respond to any of my inquires about how it could be corrected. In my personal opinion, unless you really need multiple zeros for a single optic, you would be better served with their more basic red dots.
Pros:
  • -Versatile, 10 different profiles, great if you have a gun with QD barrels, or adjusting between supersonic and subsonic ammo
  • -Rechargeable battery, although the battery life is short, there is a battery level indicator so you know what the charge level is, and it charges really fast.
  • -Good selection of reticle options, although some with drops, for some reason the center dot is the zero?
  • -auto brightness works really well, sensor is on the front so even looking into bright outside from a dark room, it works well.
  • -not made in china
Cons:
  • -no support or updates from meprolight
  • -some advertised features do not work, round counter and level on mine.
  • -Window has a pretty heavy purple tint to it. reminds me of older cheap red dots.
  • -profiles can not be transferred to other devices, if your paired phone stops working, all your profiles will be lost
Best Used for:
  • Sporting

Initial difficulty setting up but worth it

by Paz74, from OH, United States Written on December 20, 2021
I too had trouble setting up the doubleshoot app but fortunately I got through to customer service, he was helpful. For some reason my serial number was registered once he corrected that the app was free. No monthly fee. I like the optic's recticle flexibility wish they would deliver with the upgrades as promised. Only other thing is I notice some light bleeding around the borders.

Cool looking but no support and misleading advertisements

by Sam, from FL, United States Written on December 16, 2021
Okay so I wanted this optic FOREVER and finally was able to get it. It arrived yesterday and I dig the design and whatnot. HOWEVER the round counter to be added in a future update that was advertised a year ago is nowhere to be seen.

I also emailed Mepro customer service about initial difficulty pairing and got no response.

The "free" account on the double shoot app IS NOT FREE its 11 dollars a year. I emailed them and still have got no word back. All in all both company's support is awful. I have been torn if I want to keep the optic but the fancy gadgetry is in my opinion not worth it for what I believe is false advertising. Will be looking into Vortex, Sig or Eotech as I look into retuning this item.
Pros:
  • it works
Cons:
  • no customer support
  • Double shoot Account isnt free
Best Used for:
  • People who want to run one optic on several guns

one of the best

by sxelikemyband, Verified Owner from PA, United States Written on June 11, 2021
This optic is one of the coolest optics I've ever used. At first I was worried cause it uses an app and with the way software optics are I'd assume it would be buggy or not work very well, but I was wrong. This optic is fantastic. It works as intended and is very fast and fluid in motion. No complaints at all. So I definitely recommend this 100%
Pros:
  • awesome
  • Work as described
Cons:
  • none I experienced
Best Used for:
  • Rifles

A toy, not combat proven, and not even MIL-spec rated

by Mike, from TX, United States Written on April 26, 2021
Pros:
- The Foresight gives you a hint of the future in red dot optics
- You can select five reticules from a bunch of reticules on Meprolight smartphone app
- You can setup multiple profiles on the Meprolight (multiple weapons).

Cons:
- Not MIL-spec rated. Meprolight does not provide ANY valuable specs and that's because they don't want you to know the ugly truth.
- Sight firmware is glitchy.
- Poor quality display: There's a lot of green light leaking all around the display, it's extremely annoying.
- The display compass gives Magnetic North and you cannot manually adjust it for True North.
- Two years later Meprolight hasn't figure out to make the "shot counter" feature works. They finally release it in 2019 or 2020 and it was totally not working. So, they deleted the feature in the subsequent firmware update. And this feature is nowhere to be seen since.
- Rechargeable battery is not replaceable, ever, by anyone, unless you crack open the housing. Even Meprolight themselves won't replace the battery, I've asked them twice already about it. Their answer to me was: Don’t worry, the battery should last years.
- For the automatic digital zero feature you need to download an iOS / Android app that cost 8.99$ a year. Not a one-time 8.99$ purchase! But a yearly fee of 8.99$!

I bought it because the salesman told me it was MIL-spec like all the other Meprolight optics. Oh boy it's not! After harassing a Meprolight rep with dozens and dozens of emails I finally got th...

Meprolight

by Doug Meredith, Verified Owner from CO, United States Written on March 22, 2021
CANNOT go wrong with ANY Meprolight product! Proven in actual combat and with this unit specifically, the holographics and software functions are amazing. The ability to program for multiple weapons is great, as well as the function of using your smartphone.

Cash grab from App to use this!!!

by EnemyoftheSun, Verified Owner from OH, United States Written on July 18, 2020
The sight shows a reverse image of everything that is being displayed other than whats in the center of the sight. Example the compass is on the top left, in the bottom right you can see the compass reversed. If you turn all the other features off this problem goes away. Yet why purchase it if your not using any of those features? Then if you plan on using the autozero feature you have to download a second app to your phone and subscribe to a $8.99 monthly fee!!!
Pros:
  • Still works
Cons:
  • All the other images it displays are some how reflected in reverse on the screen
  • Need a second app to autozero that charges a monthly fee.
Best Used for:
  • Nothing buy something else

Just simply amazing

by NERIK GADAEV, Verified Owner from AZ, United States Written on June 11, 2020
Those Israelis know what they are doing. This is very easy to use and features are top notch. Menu is easy to navigate also the options of switching out reticles is a bonus. Battery life not as bad as they made it seem it was more than enough for a full day of shooting.

Great Optic

by Ben, from AZ, United States Written on April 8, 2020
Loved all the features this sight has to offer. Field of view was large and all of the reticle options were clear. Setup and pairing with your phone or other Bluetooth device was easy. The only negative is the battery life. It didn't even last a week turned off in the safe.
