Most Helpful Positive Review Great hearing protector headphones for the range or anywhere you want to block out noise.
As I write this review I have the Peltor Sport Tactical headphones on with Bluetooth connected to my smartphone and they sound pretty good. I have the headphone mic sensitivity levels all the way down and I can only hear the music so I think I will try these out on a plane soon and other noisy envi...

Most Helpful Negative Review peltor sport tactical 500
On blue tooth, Volume is very low even when phone is at its loudest. Call to Peltor was basically, thats what you get, its your fault you bought it, yea, we know its bad. Tough nut.the call to peltor was terrible. Just like the stupid red banner that pops up here when you are trying to write.

I own a lot of Peltor earmuffs. This is the most expensive yet the worst

by John, from CA, United States Written on April 22, 2022
I shoot a lot. I own many various Peltor earmuffs. I needed a new set, so I ponied-up and bought these very expensive earmuffs, thinking they would be great. They are not. I have been using them for well over 6 months. I emailed Peltor (3M) and was told: send them back, we will check them out and replace them if defective. Sure
1) the headband is very hard and uncomfortable --- a really bad design
2) the noise reduction is no where near what they say it is. I find I often take them off and use one of my older Peltor muffs
3) they were very expensive
4) the ear muffs are not gel-filled. They are not nearly as comfortable as gel-filled (which some of my other Peltors are)
5) they do not amplify voice very well. I can easily hear other people talking --- with other earmuffs. Not with these
6) customer support was pathetic.
So, would I recommend these --- not a chance. Try any other Peltor or other Mfr's ear muffs first
I will admit, I did not buy them at Opticsplanet, I bought them from another vendor. But I resolved to not let others make my mistake. I have no doubt Opticsplanet would have stood by them and accepted a return ---- my tough luck, don't let it be yours.
Pros:
  • they look cool
Cons:
  • many, many, many
Best Used for:
  • leaving in your truck

Peltor 500

by Chris, from PA, United States Written on August 9, 2020
Very comfortable and easy to bluetooth. They worked great for me at the range. I connected my phone to it and that was the easiest way to change the settings to get the right one. The gunshot was blocked but conversations were no problem.
Pros:
  • easy set up
Cons:
  • Pricey

Very Impressed

by RIGHT SIDE OF HISTORY, from CA, United States Written on July 31, 2020
They are very comfortable and work very well. As far as tactical, I love the Bluetooth connection because it allows for communication between yourself and another. Very useful. When wearing them, you can amplify surrounding input like how a hearing aid would work making it great for situational awareness. Mics are clear. It really does mute things when firing your tool yet allows for still hearing what's going on around you. Great Purchase.
Pros:
  • Works as advertised
Cons:
  • None

Bluetooth Crackles

by Mike, from MN, United States Written on December 19, 2018
I haven't used these much yet, just tested them out when they arrived. The bluetooth hooked up easily but there is a crackle sound every time I push "buttons" on the phone. Kind of annoying. Also not particularly confidence inspiring is following the link here to do a review and seeing they are freshly discontinued by the manufacturer.

Nice Product

by Stuart, from MO, United States Written on October 31, 2018
Great product and I got a Great price at OpticsPlanet. I've been looking at these for awhile and decided to go with this model because of the blue tooth feature. I can also wear these while I cut the grass and not get the ear bud wiring caught on anything. OpticsPlanet was by far the best price.

Very Comfortable

by J.C., from LA, United States Written on September 11, 2018
Many features for the price. I was looking for a replacement for some older "around the head" tactical muffs. Haven't had "over the head" style protectors for some time. No longer a SWAT guy and didn't need a lower profile design. With that being said, these are still fairly sleek for everything packed into them. So far I'm pleased. They are a little heavy for all day use, but with the added electronics I guess that can be expected.
Pros:
  • Price
  • features
Cons:
  • Heavy
Best Used for:
  • hunting
  • Range
