Most Helpful Positive Review Outstanding Brake
I installed this brake on a Bergara B-14 Ridge rifle chambered in 308 Winchester. The rifle also has a MDT HS3 chassis system and MDT V5 skeleton stock and and the glass is a Vortex Viper PST. In my honest opinion, a muzzle brake is not really necessary for a 308 in terms of recoil, but if shooting long range there is just enough recoil to make getting back on target in time and observing bullet splash difficult. I spent quite a while deciding on which brake to get, and this particular break seemed to be lacking in reviews, or really any thorough information for that matter. I know I wanted a...

Good Brake, but

by Robert, from TX, United States Written on July 22, 2025
The only complaint is that it gets loose immediately after one shot. I'm shooting 300WM and 7mm usually and without blue locktite or a crush washer of some kind, it will immediately get loose. I love the fact that you don't need to index it and it looks great. I shot a 7PRC with and without this and there is a very noticeable difference. In my case I also shoot suppressed when possible (depends on state) and thus the thing getting loose when suppressors are not allowed gets annoying...and I don't want to have to fight to get it off every time. Would love to see some kind of clever mechanical solution for this (maybe a small set screw somewhere?). Other than that, love it, have three.

Looks good shoots good

by APO, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on December 30, 2023
Only put about 60 rounds down range with it but everything is good so far. Fit and finish are excellent. Kind of doubt the claims about how much recoil it eliminates but thats true of just about every muzzle device I've used.

Concentricity

by Desmond ONeill, Verified Owner from TN, United States Written on February 23, 2022
This was my 2nd M41 from Precision Armament. My 6.5CM now has .223-level recoil, no exaggeration. This helps significantly for benchrest if the muzzle projects past the bench, as it usually does. (No muzzle lift from the exhaust gas) Also, the ports' 'rifling' angles assist the 'blow' to continue its job of accelerating and stabilizing the bullet. Prone shooters may have to accept a little dust in the face in the dry West, but Tennesseans revel in wet dirt! I recommend this brake.
Pros:
  • Recoil Port angling
Cons:
  • Prone dust at times
Best Used for:
  • Benchrest. Small mass shooters.

Muzzle Brake

by Russ, from MT, United States Written on March 6, 2021
Very well built and super functional piece of equipment, highly recommended using on .308 long range. Helps tremendously on recoil, noisy as all of the brakes seem to be on my neighbors on the range, so try to keep my distance if possible.

This thing is freeking awsome!

by Shambling Strider, Verified Owner from NC, United States Written on June 11, 2020
I have never used a fancy muzzle break before, only the stock G.I. style A2 flash hider. I am super impressed with the recoil reduction. Usually when I shoot my AR-308 more than 5-6 shots it leaves a slight blue tread pattern on my shoulder. It's not a big deal and I kind of like a little recoil myself but this thing is crazy. After carefully installing the M41 on my rifle and shooting 5 shots, just to feel the difference. I was really surprised. It felt like shooting a heavy AR-15 in 5.56. I have to say that this thing is BIG and heavy but it has a certain Buck Rogers flair.
Pros:
  • Looks cool
  • Great recoil reduction
Cons:
  • Big and a bit heavy
Best Used for:
  • Dishing out the awesome

amazing brake

by Nathan Hansen, Verified Owner from AZ, United States Written on May 20, 2019
It’s a big brake. 1-1/2 or so in diameter and 2”+ long. Not meant for prone shooting in dirt for sure. I put this brake on my 7rem mag and it felt like a 243, top. Finish is good, I didn’t use the install tool. Just a brass rod to tighten.

Great Brake

by Petz, Verified Owner from GA, United States Written on March 24, 2019
Installed the brake on my Bergara B-14 HMR. Did a great job reducing recoil without any impact to ballistics to the 150 grain .308 Win. I am using the rifle for 200, 300, 400, and 600 yard shooting competitions. Love the radial look to the brake and as we know half of shooting is looking good. Ha.
Pros:
  • reduced recoil
  • Design and construction
Cons:
  • Heavy
Best Used for:
  • Bench or supported shooting
