I typically use foam earplugs but have a hard time holding a conversation with someone while at the range. I decided to get these so that I could protect my hearing and hear other people speak to me. They work great and have volume controls for each ear. The only issue I had was remembering to turn them all the way off.

I bought these too replace a set of Peltor electronic muffs that quit working. These muffs are comfortable and amplify sound very well. They shut down very quickly when the gun fires. Ia overall very satisfied with their performance. My only complaint is the battery they use. They require four N size E90 batteries. The N size is labeled as a 'medical battery.' If you order them from Optics Planet, they cost $14 for four. My Peltor muffs used four AAA batteries which cost less than half what the N batteries cost. I found the N batteries at Walmart and the price difference was amazing. A pack of two Energizer N E90 batteries cost $2.97 at Walmart. So to replace the batteries with the Energizer batteries cost less than half.
Pros:
- light, comfortable, adjustable
- amplify outside sound well
- Shut down very quickly when gun is fired
Cons:
- Silly choice of battery by manufacturer

I saw several people wearing Pro Ears behind the head muffs at our IDPA matches. Ordered a pair and love them. More comfortable than my over the head Peltors and a better NRR rating. Plus I like being able to wear a wide brimmed hat instead of being limited to a ball cap. Also like the sound level adjustment better than my old pair.

After searching for just the right hearing protection headset, I found this. It is comfortable - fits around the ears well keeping good protection against loud sounds - even with goggles on. The electronic sound amplification allows me to hear talking while eliminating load noises (like those on a range). I have worn it for hours at a time - it stays comfortable to wear. The audio amplification level is adjustable. Made in the USA!

I would highly recommend for the shooter looking for a quality piece of gear. The low profile ear piece allows for proper eye relief on rifle optics without interfering with the headset and compromising hearing protection.
Pros: I really enjoyed using the ProTac hearing protection, easy to setup and use. I like the low profile design as it bodes well for rifle shooting. I was pleasantly surprised at the amplification of sounds at a distance, very clear and crisp sound quality.
Cons: These are a little pricey but very good quality.

This was the best money ever spent.
Pros: Can hear what the range master is saying while shooting is going on.
Cons: Could be smaller.
