Most Helpful Positive Review Pro Ears review
Everything about the Pro Ears Gold ear muffs is positive except the price. They work as described and compress loud sounds instead of annoying clipping or turning off and on like other electronic ear protection. The fit is very comfortable and easily adjustable. The headband cover and ear cup pad...

Most Helpful Negative Review Not much hearing protection
I did not get the chance to evaluate the performance of the electronics in these muffs because so much sound was already penetrating the housing. You really notice it when switching from foam ear plugs (NRR of about 32) to these ear muffs (NRR 26). I understand that NRR 26 is substantially les...

How are my earmuffs?

by Grem, Verified Owner from MI, United States Written on June 24, 2024
It seems to be great, but it needs a head strap on top to take the weight off

Way too heavy for extended wear

by Ed, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on November 4, 2020
These ear protectors are very HEAVY, and as a result, the head 'spring' has to be tight for them to 'hold on'.
If you're shooting a rifle and take them off after the round, great, but if you're buying these for sporting clays
or for quail hunting, which I was planning on, don't buy them.
Pros:
  • They muffle the sound, I would guess
Cons:
  • Too heavy for long term use
Best Used for:
  • Short term use

Awesome! Crystal clear sound

by Mikeycanuk, Verified Owner from NY, United States Written on May 14, 2018
If you are thinking these are pricey, buy once cry once. I bought cheaper Sport Ears first. My wife’s headband broke and one cup died on mine. So these REAALY cost me but worth every penny.

It’s CRYSTAL clear sound. 10/10
Pros:
  • SOUND
Cons:
  • Head band
Best Used for:
  • shooting

Excellent quality

by scott, from WA, United States Written on February 23, 2016
I've been using these for over 5 years now, both on the range and at work. The quality and comfort are substantially better than many other muffs I have tried.
I travel all over the country shooting pistol and 3 gun competitions, and these have never let me down.
The light weight and leather cups, means I can wear them all day at work, and comfort is not compromised.
The super fast attack time is second to none, and has protected my hearing year after year of running heavy machinery, and shooting hundreds of thousands of rounds.

Pro Ears Gold is a great choice

by JD, from CO, United States Written on April 10, 2015
These work great
I just took these to Front Sight and they worked great.
These are perfect if you wear a full brimmed hat.
The fact that you can adjust the left & right side independently is a great feature.
They are expensive but worth it in my opinion
Thanks
Jeff

Amazing

by HW, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on February 10, 2014
I never thought I would spend this kind of money on hearing protection. I had purchased a highly recommended electronic hearing protection for around $70. The first time I went to use them they literally fell apart. Great when you are first up at a match. I started researching options and everything lead to Pro Ears. I choose this model because lithium batteries are reliable and I have a supply for other devices. I also liked that I could order a set of over the head bands as an option if I did not like the behind the head setup. I finally got to use them this weekend. First they did not fall apart when I tried to put them on. I set the volumes at about the middle and went from there. After awhile I noticed that I was not hearing any of the usual noise I was hearing with other units. The sound was natural and just the shot noise was suppressed. The ear pieces were comfortable, the only issue was the typical sweating within the earmuffs that happens after wearing them for hours. The leather muffs were much more comfortable than the plastic or vinyl ones on other units. We shot several scenarios next to walls and in hallways and there was no discomfort like I have experienced with high end ear plugs.
I would recommend these to anyone. The epiphany was realizing that they worked so well that it sounded like I was not wearing them.
Pros: Works Flawlessly
Cons: Price

Great Headphones - A little tight on the head

by Legacy Reviewer, from WA, United States Written on March 11, 2013
A great set of headphones, however a little tight on the head. My hat size is 7-1/4 which is pretty average and I find the shape of the band to be too "pointy" thereby causing the headphone to put pressure on the crown area of the head. After prolonged use it tends to cause a headache. This is the only reason these headphones didn't get 5/5 stars. I love the headphones other than this. Top notch sound quality, however if I had it to do again, I would go with the behind the head model.
Pros: Excellent Quality
Cons: A little tight on the head

Great product

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from SC, United States Written on October 26, 2012
After buying several other electronic muffs, these have been the best. Nice having independent controls, just remember to turn off both sides. I added a paint dot to visually see that they are turned off. I can wear a full brim hat with them but it rides a little high. No problem with sound recovery or carring on a conversation while someone is shooting. Easy to hear SO and timer during a match. They are expensive but with a lot of shooting, I wanted to keep my hearing.
Pros: Independent controls, great sound reduction & quick recovery
Cons: Tough to wear a hat, needs mark for off position

Very nice!

by Legacy Reviewer, from CA, United States Written on June 21, 2010
Best ear protection and perfect for rifles! It's great to be able to hear voices while you're shooting and still have gun sounds silenced.
Pros: Can continue to hear voices while shooting
Cons: A little on the expensive side
