Most Helpful Positive Review Outstanding Hearing Protection Product
I am a professional musician and recording engineer as well as IDPA, hunting, and large caliber rifle shooter. I have tried nearly all muffs on the market. The Pro Ears Pro Tac SC Gold Low Profile seem to be the best product available. I have a 2001 vintage set of Radians which are much better than current Radians, and have better directional sense and volume than these Pro Ears. If I moved the jumper in the Pro Ears for higher gain the Pro Ears would likely excel. But the Pro Ears with the 3x faster clamping make even large caliber rifle boom a non-issue. No issues with cheek weld. Leat...

Excellent at saving your hearing

by Pops, from CA, United States Written on December 2, 2019
I purchased these protectors as a backup to my other Pro Ears. They are everything you would expect from Pro Ears. I have used this brand for over 6 years now and I won’t change for anything. I have tried others that people have bragged about but haven’t found any other pair of hearing protectors that are as comfortable to wear and actually reduce noise. When you are on the firing line it is imperative that you can hear the commands given. These protectors enhance the sound so you can clearly understand everything said. When the noise level goes up, the protectors kick in and remove the damaging noise.
With the auto shutoff, battery life is amazing. I can go about a year on a set of batteries. I can’t say enough about this product. They are awesome. All I can do is highly recommend them so you can save your hearing. THEY WORK!
Pros:
  • Comfort
  • Excellent battery life
  • reduce damaging noise
  • Clear magnified hearing when not reducing noise
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Anything where you need sound protection

Best protection you can get

by Pops, from CA, United States Written on December 1, 2019
I have had the same set of PronEars for over 6 years now. I do not shoot without them. All my others, I have either given away or thrown in the trash. My hearing doctor recommended this when I suddenly lost over 60% of my hearing. My hearing has not diminished any more sine I started using my Pro Ears. My only complaint is the are large and interfere a little with certain rifle stocks and shotguns. But at the cost of loosing more hearing, I decided to figure out how to make it work. And you can. Just a little imagination is all. Battery life in the these protectors is pretty amazing. I use quality batteries and they will last me over a year. Auto turn off and all really help too.
They are very comfortable to wear. Having the leather cups really helps. I’m still on the original set and the are still in excellent shape. I shoot anywhere from 4 to 6 days a week and always use these protectors. If you care about your hearing, grab them.
Because I waited to long, I had to spend $3200 for hearing aids. Should have listened when I had the chance.
Pros:
  • Quality
  • Comfortable
  • Excellent noise reduction
  • great company and service.
Cons:
  • A little big
Best Used for:
  • Anything requiring noise reduction

High quality but at a price

by Perseus, from CA, United States Written on April 20, 2019
The pro ears came with 2 large 3 volt lithium batteries installed inside each ear cup. At first I thought the design would interfere with wearing them but so far with limited use, it’s ok. I hope these large batteries last much longer than other headsets, we will see. Overall the quality is very high and the performance is as advertised.

Only time will tell...

by Shoots a lot, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on January 29, 2018
The pro tacs fill great, look great, and apear to be of good quality. The only problem I see with these elp’s is that the plastic adjustment strap on top of the headband could strip out, but only time will tell.

Pro Ears, a must have range accessory!

by Jim, Verified Owner from PA, United States Written on September 27, 2016
This is my second set of "Pro Ears". The first set I purchased around 8 years ago and are still in use. I purchased this set as a back-up/secondary set for use when I go shooting with family and friends who are still using archaic ear plugs and muffs, or have nothing at all! They always work and provide an extra margin of safety and enhance the experience. Once you use them, it's hard not to want a set of your own!

Great hearing protection & listening abilities

by Phil, from PA, United States Written on June 17, 2016
I was leary to spend that much money on ear protection but I'm glad that I did. I've used numerous electronic muffs in the past and they all end up with something going wrong. While I haven't used these muffs for that long, the times that I've used them have been a great experience. The leather cuffs are incredibly comfortable. I'm not sure how well they'll do as I sweat on them this summer but they do recommend replacing the cuffs every 9 months. We'll see how they hold up.
Keep in mind I'm a big believer in "you get what you pay for" so I'm glad to have these in my shooters bag.
Pros:
  • Comfortable, Easy to use, Moderate to Good protection
Cons:
  • cost
Best Used for:
  • shooting/range day

Very durable build

by Graham, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on November 24, 2014
I am very impressed with overall look and build of this product. They fit great and the slim design clears my rifle so I can get a proper cheek weld. I took one star off only because of how the battery mounts which seemed a bit off. There is a bit of electronic buzz when turned up in volume.

These muffs are the best I have ever used.

by Legacy Reviewer, from AL, United States Written on May 29, 2013
These muffs are the best I have ever used. They are worth every penny you pay for them. I love the auto-shutoff feature. If I put them in my bag and leave them on by mistake or they get turned on by mistake, the 4 hour shutoff feature keeps my batteries from going dead. I just turn the switch off and back on and I am good to go. The wind filter is amazing and the true dual volume controls help to keep my hearing balanced with my hearing loss. The low profile design makes clearing the stock of my long guns easy. Great design!
Pros: Very happy with these and I also purchased an additional headset for my sweet wife
Cons: none
