Affordable and capable

by SSG Shredd, from OH, United States Written on August 11, 2024
I have had this unit for over two years now, and it’s become a regular part of my night hunting equipment. One thing I was worried about is the rigidity of the unit. It’s not very large and from the exterior it has a generally calm look to it. During a hunt, I accidentally knocked the mount on my helmet loose and the whole thing fell straight to the gravel road. I was pleased to find only some scrapes on it. That’s a 6 foot plus drop and it’s good to go. The picture is clear, you can run it on a helmet mount as a single or if you have two, a double set. It’s very affordable, and can be used as a handheld. I liked it so much I purchased a second one. One stays mounted on my helmet, the other I use hand held. Definitely recommend this unit.
Pros:
  • light weight
  • Clear picture
  • afforable
  • Can be weapon mounted
Cons:
  • Narrow field of view
  • refresh rate
Best Used for:
  • Stationary spotting
Would recommend: Yes

Affordable-ish night vision

by B, from PA, United States Written on January 27, 2023
Digital night vision that works well. I can see very detailed images at night across a drainage field and a small nature trail near me. The cons: fov is very narrow. Viewing the screen almost looks like a tiny theater in the monocular. There is a slight blurring while moving that I’m not Sure if is the refresh rate on the screen or not. I haven’t tried helmet mounting it so I can’t comment on using it to navigate at night. Since it is a camera system it sometimes will adjust exposure to a branch that is close to you instead of the background. It makes it hard to view any distance in brush. It does a decent job but it doesn’t compare to analog units in capability or cost. It may sound like I don’t like the unit but for the money it does what it is supposed to. I’ve had a lot of fun playing with it but it is an expensive toy.
Pros:
  • Clarity
  • cost
Cons:
  • Narrow field of view
  • refresh rate
  • Auto exposure w illuminator
Best Used for:
  • Stationary observation
