Most Helpful Positive Review Pronghorn and Ruger 10/22
Better that exoected for the price. I believe an excellent choice for my Ruger 10/22. Variable power works well. Zeroing went fast and was easy, nice solid clicks. Windage and elevation screws have a small raised tab to get a good finger hold on to make controlled click adjustments. I am using ...

Most Helpful Negative Review Scope I have has issues related to manufacturing
This would be a great scope for the price but the inside of the tube is not painted with a non reflective paint [cost cutting?].. The light reflecting from inside the tube is saturating the edges of the lenses causing the scope to appear blurry.. Looks like they used the same paint as on the outside...

TASCO PRONGHORN 3X9X32

by ed, from NY, United States Written on November 17, 2022
In 1990 I bought a Browning BAR II Which was very pricy at the time and even though It had open sights I wanted to put a scope on it. I bought The Tasco pronghorn and put it on my 7MM Mag not expecting much for a $12 scope from K-Mart at the time, IT HAS BEEN VERY RELIABLE OVER THE PAST 32 YEARS AND STILL HOLDS ITS ZERO! I can now afford a much better scope but I keep this reliable cheap scope to remember where i came from. Highly recommended
Pros:
  • Very reliable
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Hunting 10yd - 300yds

The Canuck!

by Thomas, from ON, Canada Written on October 1, 2020
I just bought the scope a week ago. I took it the range and in no time, I had it sighted in. I was very happy with the scope, it works well with my Ruger 10/22. In the future, I plan to take it with me on my moose hunting trip. I plan on bagging some partridge and quail.

Marlin .17 hmr

by Whatwherehow, from UT, United States Written on January 7, 2016
laser bore sighted at 75yds and 2in high..

dead on at 150 and I do mean dead on 1/2 for 5 rounds 200 is a bit lower..

like most people I run into with "SCOPE ISSUES" past 75 to 100 yards.... I say this
"BREAK YOUR RIFLES IN RIGHT!!!"
any rifle not properly broken in will not be accurate past 100 yds, if you do not follow the
simple break in process you will scar the lans and then even a $1000 scope wont fix the issues
READY???
1 clean
2 shoot
3 repeat for first 5 to 7 rounds
4 repeat after first 5 to 7 every 5 rounds up to 50 rounds

If this is too complex, May I suggest KNITTING instead of shooting...

I Have shot with this on .17hmr 10/22 and a .223 bolt action... it was actually better on my .223
than my nikon BDC...

and yes I agree with the glare and close in focus issues.. but accuracy when done right is better than $30

Good shooting
Pros:
  • Cheap
  • did I mention cheap
Cons:
  • some washout in bright light from tube glare
Best Used for:
  • 22-250 and smaller

Great value

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on December 22, 2013
Those who knocked this scope just need to dig deeper in their wallets and buy a high dollar, high quality scope. If you can't afford one then don't gripe about this low dollar scope. I find it to be just right for my Henry Golden Boy 22 mag. I am pleased with all aspects of the scope.
Pros: Sleek, good finish, clear
Cons: Not any as far as I am concerned

Great Value For The Money

by Legacy Reviewer, from WA, United States Written on November 9, 2012
Yes, its blurry at times; especially at ranges less than 20 yards, but its a great value even so. I have my Tasco Pronghorn 3-9x32 scope mounted on an older "plain Jane" Ruger 10/22 Carbine and I can put 5 out of six rounds into a 1" round Shoot-N-C Target patch at 50 yards! The same day (11-07-12), I fired 3 rounds into a 2" group at 100 yards. I think thats pretty darn good for an unmodified, off-the-shelf rifle and a 30-dollar, off-the-shelf scope! That speaks quite well of both products.

Though this scope did pretty well mounted on an Enfield No4 Mk3, chambered in 303 British, I dont recommend this scope for rifles that have substantial recoil (i.e. 30-06 or 300 magnum). However, for .22 Long Rifle weapons, this scope is great and holds zero well.

Pros: Great Price, Looks, and Function
Cons: See Review

Tasco Pronghorn 3-9x32

by Legacy Reviewer, from VA, United States Written on February 25, 2012
Good value. Use on my flat top AR15. Image is very clear up to 7x. Does not have very good clarity at low light. This is a good scope at a great value.

Don't buy this scope (Tasco 3-9X32)

by Legacy Reviewer, from WA, United States Written on June 27, 2011
I have a Crosman scope of the same specs (3-9 X 32) (which came with mounts) and it's far superior. Objective lens has distance markings like a camera lens, this Tasco scope you screw/unscrew the eyepiece many many times to focus. Above 4X power the image has a tighter and tighter zone where your eye has to be and even then I could never focus crystal clear. I am very disappointed for a scope sold by the Tasco people who have been making hobbyist telescopes since I was a kid.
Pros: $30+Rings+Shipping = under $50
Cons: Unscrew eyepiece 50 times to focus/bad focus above 4 X.

|Goog for a while.

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on November 9, 2010
I bought my Pronghorn scope at Bass Pro Shops when I bought my Knight muzzleloader. It was good for a few years. Now it is clear at 3X setting but above 4X it gets blurry. I have tried adjusting it but it did not help.
Pros: Cheap
Cons: Blurry at high power
