Rob the independent semi-liberal moderate's Review of Tiger Rock AR-15 Mil Spec Stock Buffer Tube

It's a fairly priced mil-spec carbine buffer tube. It works fine for both carbine buttstocks I have used on it, including a Luth-AR MBA-3 stock and an Adaptive Tactical EX Performance Adjustable stock. Both stocks fit and adjust as expected for a mil-spec buffer tube. The anodized coating isn't as hard or as thick as higher end anodized aluminum parts on other products I own, but it's not bad either.

The interior coating isn't anything special as far as friction-reduction or hardening, so make sure to lube your spring.

I'm quite happy with this for a build for casual occasional shooting. I would probably not use this on a build intended for heavy usage and destined for abuse.

If this buffer stock were a football dynasty, it would be the Jim Kelly era Buffalo Bills -- it's a solid, functional choice that's good enough to make a lot of people happy, but it'll never be the champion.
Pros:
  • Affordable
  • in-spec
Cons:
  • No fancy interior coatings
Best Used for:
  • occasional use
  • recreational gun
