I had seen on more than one instance that this would not work on my underfolder but I figured if it didn't I would put it on my AKM. It fit well. No modification needed. Definitely well made with quality materials and construction. The only issue was the finish. I plan on giving it a camo paint job so not a concern BUT, after watching a YouTube video with the CEO go on about their quality finish I had to note the following comment. While handling the battle rail I noticed I was leaving finger prints behind. Upon investigation I noticed that the finish was rubbing off. If I was keeping the black finish it might have upset me but I was so pleased with the fit and probably just got some flat black and repainted it as opposed to dealing with the hassle of returns. That being said I would still highly recommend it install is so easy. Mine came with a different lock nut than the spanner style pictured on Optics website and installed with an adjustable wrench. If you use an adjustable make sure you take the time to get a nice tight fit to avoid slipping the wrench and don't over torque it. 5 stars on everything except finish.

Installed as tight as I could with blue loctite and allowed to sit for several days before shooting. Attached red dot then took to range to zero. After about 30 rounds of slow fire I touched the rail to see if hot, a little warm but not hot. And that's when I noticed a little movement. When cold it doesn't move but when hot it does. Very slight rotational movement. It wasn't enough to throw off my zero at 25 but haven't had the chance to see what it does at longer distances. Not sure if I should try to tighten when hot. Also, weapon is a little overgassed now, replaced a gas tube that had holes. This is great for close range red dots and attaching lights.

Excellent fit, finish and looks. Easy to install at a good price. All boxes are checked with this quality piece. The top rail is an added bonus for adding an optic. If you want to update to a modern look, this will do it.
Pros:
- Quality
- Ease of Install
- American made

I bought this to mount a light. It works well for that and is surprisingly sturdy. I'm not sure if it would keep zero with an optic though. I like the adjustability of it. I do recommend it and I am pleased with it.

I bought this for my VEPR and it fits nicely, with Troy quality and precision machining. I've put ~200rnds through since it was installed with zero issues. The tension-nut did loosen after the first few mags (as expected), but after tightening it it's been 100% functional.
I did have to do some filing to the top of the hand-guard retention ring, as it sat slightly high for the gas tube to sit level. It only took a few minutes of filing the top of the retainer, and it was ready for action. I'm guessing this was more of a VEPR 'problem', as they use slightly thicker parts for their rifles, so it could be an isolated issue.
Although it's fairly expensive, you know it's worth the price.
Pros:
- Quality
- Good fit
- minimal machining

This gas tube works just fine but there are a few things that keep it from be perfect. If you tighten it up too tight it has a drastic effect on group size and POI/POA. I have a Home built rifle that does 1 MOA at 100 yards with Lapua ammo using an optic sight attached to the side rail of the receiver. I installed the M-LOK Battle Rail with no changes in accuracy but when i installed the gas tube and tightened it up my 100 yard accuracy went into the toilet. I loosened the gas tube to where it just made contact with the sight block and the gas block and my accuracy came back but i could not keep the gas tube secured on the weapon as the securing nut kept loosening as it became hot. I tried red Loctite to hold it in place but the tube gets hot enough to defeat red LT. I ended up drilling the nut and placing 2 Allen screws in it so i could lock the nut in place without having to over tighten it. Now i can remove the gas tube for cleaning and i have My 1 MOA back. I would suggest this modification to Troy to truely make this fully adjustable unit the Ultimak Killer. I like the idea of making one that fits all and it is a quality made accessory for sure. I gave it 4 stars because of this. It is also a good idea to install the inserts in the top rail as it does get blistering hot during long strigs of fire just like the original. A great idea, very high quality, very well done except for the one thing i mentioned above. I would buy it again, the modification to make it perfect is ...

Not a knock on Midwest Industries but I first bought their version of this and it did not fit my romainian WASR 10/63. the piston was to wide for the tube. I then purchased this product and it fits and i am very happy with how it fits without wobble and functions perfectly.

It's a solid, quality built product. Troy Industries products are "Top shelf". I have the rail on a Saiga sporter 7.62. Low mount for red dot. This rifle has wood furniture. Looks like the rail/gas tube was a factory build. No tools, grinding, or filing. Just a wrench to tighten the nut on the sleeve. Robert

- Fitment,
- Fitment, sturdy,

OK, people love their ultimaks and some people have something against Troy. But no one can argue that they don't have great design and functionality. The top rail system is an easy install works on almost every variant of rifle(m92 krink is the exception I believe). I have one on a wasr and an npap. Not the greatest of rifles but they work and never have not worked so they might as well be arsenals. The finish is going to get marked up so if you're a safe queen freak then maybe go a different direction or have them cerakoted or something.
Cons:
- finish seems to show marks easily
