Most Helpful Positive Review Best rear sight out there
Awesome addition to any weapon. Fast targeting for cqb and precise aiming for longer shots with excellent sight picture A must have for a duty rifle. Will cowitness with a rifle optic no problem. Low profile when not in use.
Most Helpful Negative Review 600m too Small
The quality of the Troy DOA rear sight is clear. Solid construction, positive locking in the vertical position and secure mounting hardware. The finish of the FDE unit I had was pristine as well. I really liked the 0-200 diamond and the corresponding white lines that help draw your eye to center ...

Great sight

by Ed, Verified Owner from OH, United States Written on November 23, 2025
I had one of these before I bought this one. It seems a lot easier to aim for me with this style of sight. It is very good quality.

Di optic system is easier to gauge target!

by sparky480, Verified Owner from AZ, United States Written on July 24, 2022
I am able to squire target sight much easier now, i have this paired with the Troy HK style front sight, and I am able to line up the white lines and aquire target at a much faster rate, it is very clear to see, I haven't done any night practice, so I cant say for sure if it's visible. The apetaure is easy to change from small to big, yet it stays in place, the MOA lines are vey accurate and precise, it does take force to move it if you're not using the tool that was designed for this, I have purchased one and it does make it a lot easier. I started at 25 feet just to get a feel, I did move further and further out 200 yards and I was able to get 1" groups .

As some other reviewer said, the vertical lines are not centered :-(

by Checkm8js, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on March 20, 2021
This is really well built and would be amazing... except the vertical white line is off center... NOT good for a target sight. The quality feels really good, very tight. I really like the sight otherwise. Will have to see if Optics Planet has any without a misaligned vertical white line.
Pros:
  • sturdy, well built
Cons:
  • Vertical line off

Great customer service and product

by Michael Metz, Verified Owner from OR, United States Written on August 25, 2020
Gotta admit, I'd read bad reviews about Optics planet shipping times, so when Troy Industries recommended them I was hesitant. However, I ordered on a Thursday morning and my sights arrived on the following Monday. The sights are great. Troy Industries is the industry standard and the di optic rear sight is a far step beyond all competitor's rear sights. All around very satisfied with this purchase and service.

Battle tested Irons

by Edwin, from FL, United States Written on April 9, 2020
I have previously owned three sets of these amazing sights. I've carried them to "Work" since 2015 and they have yet to fail. Much more durable than the competitors pop up plastic sights. The only sights for a battle rifle.
Pros:
  • Durable high quality
Cons:
  • N/A

Wish I had gotten the standard round apertures

by C.R., from OK, United States Written on July 7, 2015
Wanted to try this aperture configuration, now wishing I had gotten the standard round aperture. It will work OK but my vision isn't what it once was and centering the front post is more difficult for me than using round apertures. Not Troy's fault my vision has gone down hill, I could shoot with semi accurately, but do much better with the other aperture
Pros:
  • well built
Cons:
  • My vision
Best Used for:
  • Back up sight

Solid. Fast acquisition.

by Legacy Reviewer, from KY, United States Written on August 5, 2013
Like Troy says, you can acquire your target faster with this "diamond" shape aperture than with the round one. I've used both and prefer this.
