I've been wearing Vertx pants for many years and I'm a big fan of the Vertx product line. In fact, I wear them pretty much every day, and have put them through their paces from the jungles of the Congo to the deserts of the Middle East to the mountains of Peru. They have never failed me in the field, and they also look sleek and professional when meeting clients in the city. This particular pair blew me away when they arrived, though. None of my previous pairs in khaki and ODG were anywhere near as tough as these appeared to be "out of the box". Taking them out of the packaging from Optics Planet, they felt heavy and stiff, almost like the way a brand new pair of Levis used to feel back in the day... I thought I was in for an uncomfortable break-in period. I put them on, and yes, they definitely felt heavier and thicker than my other pairs, but they still fit very well and felt great. I've been wearing them for a couple of months now, and they've been through the wash a number of times, but they are still breaking in - wearing like iron! Still tough, but always comfortable. As for the grey Kryptek pattern - I bought it for a specific purpose, and it works well for me for that purpose (my colleagues like it, too), but I don't wear this pair casually as it screams...um, something not casual...
