I have a Gen I Viper PST 6-24X50 and it is a pretty good scope but the Gen II is light years better. The glass is much improved, the turrets and zero stop are also better. Most Helpful Negative Review bad scope with bad fish-eye at close ranges on lower magnification
The scope felt nice, had nice turrets but its no good when it looks like your looking through a fish bowl. This effect was very noticeable when looking at a chain link fence and scanning the fence, you could see the picture of the fence bending as the scope moved along.

"Looks" good.

I had only owned one scope, a very old economy model from decades ago. After finishing and testing my scratch built AR10 in 308, I decided it was time to adorn it with a moderen good quality scope. I read reviews, watched videos, searched forums, and the Vortex Viper PST kept coming up as an overachiever for the money paid. I dont think it will ever be used much over 500 yards, so the medium range 3 x 15 version seemed like a good choice and is smaller and ligher than its big brother.the 5 x 25. I bought the Vortex QD mount to go with the scope.
Stunning clarity, all the adjustments you could want, built well. Some of the controls are a bit stiffer than I would like. The reticle illumination control is very stiff. I did go with the 1st focal plane, nice. Love the reticle. Its a lot of money, over a grand for the scope plus mount, but I am very happy and glad I did it.

Great glass and reticle (EBR 7-C) Good eye relief. Turrets track very true and goes back to zero correctly.

great scope

I have come to expect good bang for the buck with Vortex optics. I got a great deal on this one from Optics Planet. I'm pleased with this scope, most importantly, because of the optics. I should also mention the overall build quality and the turrets. The only negative is that Vortex included bikini covers rather than flip up covers. Do realize that many other manufacturers include none.
