Most Helpful Positive Review Accurate and reliable
I have 4 of these barrels now in the super sniper models...6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5 Grendel, 224 Valkyrie and 223 wylde. They all shoot sub moa. Some of the barrels are factory demos and 2nds on this site...read before you buy.
Most Helpful Negative Review junk do not buy
Would not chamber a round. Big gouges in ammo. Have to hand feed. Used alot of different ammo and magazines. Sent back to wilson for repair. Took too long. Ended up getting a refund. I would not recommend this barrel to anyone.

Amazing quality.

Wilson combat always impresses with their high end machining. Just make sure to pair the right gas tube with your barrel. This one pairs with the intermediate tube.

by Mauro, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on December 9, 2023
I wasted my time with this barrel optic planet recommend mid length gas tube was too short, then I got a rifle length was too long, the an intermediate thought the is was the perfect and still half inch longer and the gas block wouldn’t line up properly I had to send this sh’’ back and get something else the company was putting my rifle together say might be a bad lot I didn’t want to take the change anyway to get the same one to bad I can put zero stars

nice barrel

by BOBBY, Verified Owner from AZ, United States Written on November 25, 2023
You cant go wrong with Wilson Combat anything! Made in the USA in Texas on Bill Wilson's ranch/ manufacturing facility to the highest standards! Stainless finish is awesome inside and out! I have bought several of these in different calibers never a problem! Usually have to heavily clean other barrels especially low priced/low budget models but these you run one patch through and nothing on it NO scrubbing or multiple passes! You pay for what you get with barrels upgrade to Wilson combat pay the extra its worth it! Optics Planet has a good selection at reasonable prices with good shipping speed!

  • evrything

  • Hunting/target shooting

mixed feelings

by northeast huntere, Verified Owner from VT, United States Written on August 14, 2023
Generally happy with wilson quality however this barrel and a upper i purchased left me with some mixed feelings.
Had to repair the threads as it had obviously been hit or dropped, wouldnt accept a muzzle device. Finish seems solid but the glass beaded appearance is not for me.
Fit was fantastic and ill update with results upon true testing.

Ar 204 ruger

by Coyote Jake, from TX, United States Written on April 17, 2023
I used this barrel for a budget build on a bearcreek upper that i just swapped barrels on. After shooting it, I found it to be very accurate with four different handloads and 40gr factory ammo. I decided to use higher end parts and a competition trigger to squeeze more accurate groups. I have not finished the higher end build, but the budget build with a seven pound trigger smallest three shot group was 0.25" and larget group 0.75".

Vertical stringing issue

by Jeff F, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on March 16, 2023
While burning 200 rounds of various factory and hand loads, the 16" 6.5 Grendel barrel shot one 1" group and did not repeat the accuracy. Retorqued the scope mount and rings. Changed scope and mount from a known accurate setup. Still vertical stringing.

Gunsmith was stumped. Suggested returning the barrel to Wilson, so I did. Still there after a month. No ETA on the return/replacement...

Good news is I replaced it with a FAXON Match 6.5 barrel and it is a sub MOA shooter.
Pros:
  • Shiny stainless
Cons:
  • Service and Reliability
Best Used for:
  • Tomato stake

So much more accurate

by utahsaint, from MN, United States Written on January 9, 2023
I bought this because we often shoot out to 100 yards. My roommate has a Remington 700, and I wanted to have groups just as tight. At 100 yards this thing will put holes in holes. I saw my groups go from 4 inches to 1 inch, sometimes 1/2 inch groups. Also had the opportunity to shoot out to 625 yards with this. I used match grade Hornady 72 grain and only missed 1 out of 5 shots. If you want precision shooting with an AR I can't recommend this enough. This was a huge improvement over stock barrel.
Pros:
  • Precision accuracy
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • slow shooting
