wgacowboy's Review of Precision Hardcore Gear Tru Level AR Tactical Level

I know that this is advertised as being for the AR platform, but in my assessment really designed for a firearm with a picatinny rail and the scope mounted with a cantilever or one-piece style mount; because ultimately you just need clearance between the scope’s eyepiece and picatinny slots available. Price is fair for what it is, but product quality is exceptional; built in a small US facility. Very nice finish to aluminum, with a fairly large cross bolt allowing level to be torqued down. The packaging was very simple, I just wish there were instructions on torquing specs (I didn’t see on their website either. This was where I had a few questions. Based off of previously read reviews, I thought that there was a small chance that it may have been too snug for some picatinny rails. I tried on two guns. On my CZ Scorpion 3+ Carbine, it was very snug on the receiver’s plastic picatinny. I felt like if I truly wanted to mount it, I could have worked it on there, but didn’t because I really wanted it on my Ruger SR-556. On the Ruger it was loose, it took 20in.lbs. before the level housing started to bite the rail. Based on bolt diameter and no specific suggestion handy, I took it to 35 in.lbs. (I may even take it further after more reading). I will say from what I saw if it was just a little too snug for your rail, their is a rather generous split in the aluminum housing, where you may be able to gently splay with a wedge and light mallet. From what I’ve seen so far. I believe it has good application ability when you need a level in this placement. I agree with some other reviews, I think that I’d prefer a greener colored bubble level. Also this puts the level very close to your eye. It was so close that after focusing through my scope on low, it took close to two seconds for my eye to adjust where I could actually read it. I think that this could be over come with practice, and most likely adjusted before settling into the eye-box. As far as the accuracy, I believe mine is close after using a “Real Avid Level”, which helps you find the perpendicular axis to the line between your bore and reticle. I will probably purchase again for an AR.
