Purchased this along with the IIIA soft armor and abdominal ballistic system. Trauma pads help reduce the energy if you should be lucky enough to be shot in the plate. Seems sturdy enough.

Product Info for AR500 Armor 9.5x6 Gen 2 Blunt Force Abdominal Ballistic System Trauma Pad

Our Generation II Trauma pads are now available in our 9.5" x 6" ABS cut, deisgned to fit in most ABS pouches! Featuring an Improved Rip-stop Cover, Ultrasonic Welded Seal, and, Improved Core for enhanced performance.image

AR500 Armor Trauma Pads utilize slim and Ultralight non-Newtonian layers and padding to decrease blunt force trauma on impact by decreasing back face deformation by both disbursing and absorbing energy over the increased surface area of the trauma pad.

Back face deformation occurs when a round impacts body armor. This results in felt energy transfer through the body armor to whatever is behind it. While AR500 Armor Hard Body Armor has inherently good energy disbursing properties throughout the strike face; our Blunt Force Trauma Pads will further mitigate energy transfer. By decreasing back face deformation and absorbing energy our Trauma Pads mitigate the transfer of energy through the Body Armor and the Trauma Pad resulting in less felt energy.

The AR500 Armor Trauma Pad is designed to be worn in conjunction with our Level III Hard and Level IIIA Hybrid Soft Body Armor (behind the armor and closest towards your body). The non-Newtonian portion of our Blunt Force Trauma Pad instantly hardens upon impact, decreasing back face deformation and energy transfer. Built in padding behind our non-Newtonian layers improve comfort and have allowed us to create an ultralight and slim Blunt Force Trauma Pad.

AR500 Armor Blunt Force Trauma Pads offer no additional ballistic protection. They are designed to decrease felt energy transfer.
