If your listening to music and need to shoot will it auto proctect for the loud noise Manufacturer Answer

The XCOR offers 29 dB SNR of passive hearing protection when using foam tips. This level of hearing protection is dependent on the fit of tips. If you were listening to music, passive protection would be constant. The electronic compression would be engaged if you were also using the hearing enhancement. This function is entirely separate from Bluetooth, so all sounds over 85 dB will be compressed for your hearing safety.

if it's rated for up to 29 db NRR, doesn't it still push you over the 85 bd threshold if 140db from 5.56? not sure if I understand the rating. Manufacturer Answer

The XCOR is rated for 29 dB SNR /23 dB NRR with the passive foam tips. When the electronic protection is engaged, all sounds over 85 dB will be compressed for your hearing safety. The passive and the electronic are designed to let you hear what is happening while protecting your hearing.
