Cold Steel Mini Tuff Lite Plain Edge Folding Knife

This is the regular looking, and nicer than the Tuff Lite, but a damn sight cheaper! Cold Steel produces dozens of different "mini" versions of their most popular knife, and the Tuff Lite is simply a cut above the rest. The high strength 4034 steel blade is over an inch long, and is a full inch wide, with a pronounced ricasso at the point. The point is especially useful for securing loads or cutting - the reason for the "lite" in Tuff Lite is the extra strength achieved from the added width of the steel in the steel-handle section. The stiff spring is there for when you need your fingers free, and the resulting extra leverage can be crucial in a struggle with a stubborn lock or a fumbling challenge with a large heavy blade. We decided to make one small, inexpensive version to try and make a bit more of a stir in our lineup. This "mini" version of the Tuff Lite features the "tri-ad" locking mechanism. It gives this "lightweight" folder much more heft than the "tuff lite" and provides a similar feel to the Tuff Lite, but in a much smaller and lighter package. It's a clever, ingenious way of combining the strength of a traditional lockback with the speed and efficiency of an auto-mag style mechanism. By cleverly engineering the "tri-ad" they end up looking much more like traditional lockbacks, with the added benefit of improved corrosion resistance and durability. Cold Steel achieves this by omitting all unnecessary and superfluous extras to increase stiffness, reduce weight, and make the "tri-ad" more like a traditional lockback knife. In this case the "tri-ad" is simply a fancy term for "triple attachment", suggesting that the knife be "tri-ad" instead of "triangular" like a "lock". This gives the knife much more strength and tension, giving it greater structural strength and greater mechanical strength than other so-called "deep" folders.
