The Crosstac Mk109 Muzzle Brake is a self-timing design based on science and engineering research into both port sizes and distances from the muzzle crown. It changes size and location mathematically by caliber. Other brake designs use excessive weight to reduce recoil, or they are made to simply be a tacticool-looking muzzle ornament. Our brakes are designed to function at a high efficiency level using scientifically engineered port timing from military research and development.

The benefit for you is a brake that dramatically reduces recoil and has the added benefit of dramatically eliminating muzzle climb using gas pressure, not weight. The benefit of a lighter weight is less point of impact shift vs a bare crown, and reduced changes in the natural barrel harmonics. Our brakes weigh in at ounces, not pounds. Hardened 17-4 stainless lasts for thousands of rounds.

Self-timing benefits you by the ability to clock the brake at an angle if you so desire. Installation is simple, please see the video. Do not over-torque, simply hand tighten, snug it a little further, and it will not shoot loose. Your rifle will track cleanly and you will be able to see trace / spot splash as the rifle will be helping you. You have to shoot this brake to believe it.

Install instructions:

Seat the nut all the way onto the brake (note the nut is left hand threaded).

Screw the brake completely onto the barrel until the nut bottoms against the barrel shoulder.

Note the position. Adjust to the position you desire for the ports, less about 1/8 turn.

Back the nut off the brake to touch the barrel shoulder. The nut is recessed to cover any gap between it and the brake for a seamless install.

Tighten brake (using our tool or a dowel, plastic rod, etc - not a screwdriver or anything that will mar the brake ports).

Only tighten enough to hold, usually 1/16-1/8 turn - it gets very tight quickly

Removal instructions:

Remove by turning the brake counter-clockwise - normal direction.

If the brake was over-tightened you may need to get it warm at the range prior to removal so don't over-tighten it.
