Is it illegal to modify it? And do I need to pay a tax stamp if so? Manufacturer Answer

No it is not illegal to modify but it is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED to NOT modify our grips/stocks to fit your firearm. It is not necessary to pay for a tax stamp when installing, unless you fully intend to install this on a Mossberg 590 Shockwave or 990 Aftershock thus making it an SBS (short barreled shotgun) and changing it's classification.

Hogue Tamer Pistol grip for Mossberg 500, 590, 835 are super comfortable with a standard length of pull.image

Tamers/Pistol grips use a short bolt that is included with the Tamer (no washer needed).
