The Hornady ELD (Extremely Low Drag) Match 6.5mm bullets are built around an innovative tip. These bullets are built for accuracy and have Heat Shield tips which retain the shape of the bullet after it has been heated by the propellant. The Heat Shield tip is designed to withstand the turbulent airflow that occurs with high speed projectiles. Because of this, the 6.5mm ELD match 6.5mm ammunition shoots flat and is very stable. The AMP bullet jackets are very concentric, and the tip is made of a wax compound. Because of this, the ELD match bullets have very little deformation during flight and exhibit a very smooth profile that allows the shooters to make extremely tight groups at very long distances. The ELD match bullets have radar verified BCs that are very close to the theoretical limit of the human eye to see. This means that most of the ELD match bullets have very similar ballistics to the theoretical limit of the human eye. This means that these bullets do not exhibit the classic high BC jump seen with a lot of bonded or swaged bullets. This also means that there is less time needed for wind checks and ELD bullets exhibit much better terminal performance in a shorter x-range.
