Meets or exceeds industry performance requirements. Basic rule of thumb Grease gears and Oil everything else in a Fishing Reel![]()
Most bearings used will be made of Stainless Steel there are different quality grades of Stainless so be advised Stainless can actually Rust which is why a high quality Fishing Reel Oil is necessary
Some Reels use Ceramic Bearings these can run Dry due to the Ceramic being Non Porous and not needing lubrication to operate properly
These bearings are built with tight tolerances which is why it is necessary to use an oil with the appropriate Viscosity like Lucas Fishing Reel oil not the old motor oil laying around the garage
The use of a product like WD-40 may not be the best for this application due to it being constructed like a degreaser in very short time the product will run off of bearing surfaces and then the bearings will be dry
Maintenance interval Some would say Freshwater Fisherman should oil their Reels bi monthly and Saltwater Fisherman should oil monthly.
