The steel can not be anodized and will be manganese phosphate coated very similar to a parkerized coating.

The mil-spec manganese phosphate is a closeer to black shade not grey.

Easy install, works great. Came pre built with roll pin. It went from the mail box to installed in under 30 minutes. Doing a piece by piece build and this was a nice taste of the original m16 Vietnam era rifle. Adds a conversation piece to the build.
