Yes this should fit a Commander 1911. The TSA only requires that your firearm be in a locked, hard-sided case, so this case should work for flying provided you lock it with TSA approved locks.

Pelican watertight case - enough said. Fits my 1911 perfect. I have a government model with a 5" barrel. Not necessarily a fan of the pluck-n-pull foam, but the case construction and integrity is great!
